New Project - I bought a 2020 SR5 4x4 Tacoma, but it didn't have the eLocker on it - and I wanted an ARB locker for the rear and front. I know ARB makes a front and rear Air locker - but nothing I can find out so far is anyone who has put in the nitro 5.29 gears with the ARB Air lockers.

    Is this even possible?

Recommend front and rear e-lockers. Save yourself the headache.

Yes it can be done, yes it's been done. Recommend ARB air lockers over e-lockers. Have fun.

I have Nitro 5.29 with ARB front/rear air lockers for 2 years and no issues so far that I'm aware of. I thought about the Harrop e-locker but I've heard they disengage when you roll back. To me that would defeat the purpose of having a locker.

I saw how they operated - and yes - they don't have a continual lock during roll-back, so I wasn't very impressed by Harrop. Good product - very well machined - but I like the air lockers by ARB better.

That's what people have been saying. I have 265/70R16's (31") and it was recommended that I do the 4.88 ARB's and not the 5.29's unless I went with bigger tires - which I am not going to go with. I'll give Paul @ ECGS a call. Thanks!

You can save yourself some money and not bother with a front locker. Trust me, you wont ever need it.

You are probably right. I don't do enough off roading to ever use it. A *REAR* air locker I can see as useful - and a re-gearing yes, but others have said a winch is better than a front locker.

Not sure about that. It helped me in Moab on a couple of hairy spots. My buddies that didn’t have a front locker had to take the bypass. But other than that you are right. I don’t use it as much but it’s good to have then not.

Yup exactly and with your tire size you arent going any place gnarly to rock crawl. If you were looking to build truck for 35/37s and doe some serious stuff then maybe but even then its not completely needed.

Which trails, I've ran several trails in Moab up to 8 without a front locker. I'll be there again in March.

I'm on 265 75 16 with oem locker. You're gonna get places you wish you didn't with that setup and need armor before you'd need a front locker

Posion Spider, TOTW, Hell’s Revenge, Elephant Hill. I used it on the hard optional sections.

So all other variables aside I didn't need a locker for those trails but I have a funny semi-ironic story about lockers on those trails. On the last obstacle of Golden Spike there is a giant wall you have to climb out to get out of the trail. Of the 7 vehicles we were with only the dual locked Rubicons and my Tacoma made it without being winched and the Rubicons needed major skinny pedal while I just crawled up. Was hilarious since everyone literally expected me to just be winched.
