Hello all just wanted some feedback on the difference between these two tires and most importantly gas mileage differences. I am looking at these tires in a 285 70r17 LI 116. I've watched some videos on the comparison, and I am leaning more towards the Recons. I live in the city, (Sacramento) and don't take it offroad too much (nothing more than some rather basic dirt/gravel trails, sometimes some sand) and do a lot of highway driving. I am currently on the 28570r17 bf Goodrich km3 mud terrain tires. I have 37k miles on these. They look great and that is why I initially bought them, it was my first truck, and I was just completely focused on looks. Now after owning it for a few years (bought brand new in 2021) I just don't enjoy driving the truck. The lack of throttle response, acceleration and the "lug" when trying to accelerate just makes it very displeasing. I have recently not been enjoying the truck, but I do love the truck and want to keep it. I recently installed the KDmaxpro tune, and it made a big difference for sure but still, these tires are just too damn heavy for the kind of driving I am doing. I want a tire that will perform better but still look good and if I can get an increase in MPG as well. I actually don't do bad with these heavy tires; I manage to stay around 16-17 combined. Sorry for the long post but I don't have any experience with any other tires, and this is my first truck I have owned, let alone a Tacoma.

Recon Grappler has a more mild tread pattern and a tread wear warranty. I suggest load range SL instead of load range E. SL weighs six pounds less than E.
