I just switched from 265 70 16 BFG K01 to 285 70 17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. I haven't checked mpgs, nor will I. I knew I would lose some mpgs when I made the change, and I'm not worried about it.

As far as the tires go, they ride very smooth. As smooth if not smoother than k01. Noise change is minimal, but I think the Nitto's are slightly louder. I haven't taken them off road yet, as I am waiting on a CMC next Thursday. They look so awesome! Everyone who has seen them has been thoroughly impressed. I was pleasantly surprised when they arrived at how aggressive they look, being that I initially wanted Trail Grapplers. I talked myself into these and couldn't be happier.

Check out my build page, there are some good pics on there.

Have you gotten these in the rain yet? The tread pattern makes me think they wouldn't travel too well in a wet road conditions. Probably not as much a concern for you being out west.

I wouldn't imagine they would admit if their tire was bad... Lol. I'm in Phoenix and don't get rain very often so haven't had a chance to drive in wet conditions yet. It seems like there is quite a few people that have the ridge grapplers now, chime in if you have an input to help others out.

Haven't been in the rain yet. Not much rain in Reno. I am looking forward to seeing how they perform in the snow this winter.

I'm just trying to keep it in the back of my mind as I shop. We just had that little storm here recently, so...

I thought the same thing when I saw it. Tires that are no good in the rain have no business being on any vehicle in Florida.

Arb front bumper, warn winch, All Pro rear bumper, OME up front, OME and All Pro Standard in Back, ARB locker, 34 x 10.5 KO2's, 17" Level 8 Trackers, and fancy single piece driveshaft.
OP, now that you've had them for a while, how do they compare for highway noise to the KO2's? The C load rating does make these appealing. Thanks

My guess is these are comparable to the Toyo R/T? I have 37/12.5R20 R/T on my duramax and love them, but I will be trading in for a 16' Taco. I am on the fence to go with the R/T or Ridge Grappler? Any pros or cons between the two? Only con is the price on the Toyo.

They are supposed to be a direct competitor for other AT/MT hybrid tires, but they just don't seem to be nearly as aggressive as tires like the S/T Maxx, Toyo R/T, or GY Duratracs. They seem to lack the void ratio to clean out efficiently in mud. More aggressive than the BFG KO2s, but that isn't saying much.

I live in Florida where my main obstacle is mud. So the larger the void, the better:mudding:

Those "DC" written all over the sidewalls just ruin it for me :/

That is my dislike about them as well.

I might end up trying these ridge grapplers anyway. If I go in with low expectations I might end up pleasantly surprised :fingerscrossed:

it is these, the STT Pros or another set of duratracs (again) if I can't decide when my duratracs wear down. They have been a great long lasting tire and I expect at least that much out of my next set so scared to try anything that is too "soft" and will wear too fast.

I'm thinking the same thing. Eventually I'm hoping to get a second set of wheels and tires anyway specifically for offroad events. Mud terrain for sure. But this is my daily
All the others in their line up have decent mileage under them. I may have to be the test dummy for our area unless WendyTaco beats me to it

Well with that logic buy a set of the Ridge Grapplers for day to day use and a set of boggers for our camp and rides

That's the plan. Gotta start penny pinching for a few months just to get the RG'S first. Ramen noodles it is :hungry:
