Did you change your shocks on your RC lift or left them with the ones it came with?

Do they require anything different with the lift, or you just can purchase the normal shocks?

Did you need extended brake lines too? Still deciding between the 4in RC and the OME setup.

Ya, I can't decide on setup. Read 100s of posts. I am going with the 888 coil. Just need to decide on shocks. (5100, 5100 extended or OME) Also, is there a major lift difference between the 5100 and the Extended kit from Headstrong. Or is it more for the down travel? Not doing any crazy off-roading. Light trails, mountain trips, etc. Would like to fit 33s with minimal cutting and closest I can get to 3in

The bilstiens will work great, like them better then the OME. I would advise to stay away from the Rough Country atall cost.
The 5100’s with 5160 rears will do well both on and off road , for moderate trails you will be very happy . And onroad will be smooth. Plus they will give your Taco a great stance

Ya, Ive read a lot are not a fan of the DB lifts. Are they that bad if you're not offroading and you switch the shocks out? Also what makes you pick them over the OME?

They are absolutely the worst out there no matter what the use.
The Bilstiens are a great product.
Best deals are typically @HeadStrong Off-Road or @Downsouth Motorsports
    Marie at headstrong is outstanding.

If you get the RC lift comes with everything you need just up graded the rear shocks, in about a month going to get new Fox coilover made for 4-6 inch lift

are these tires effecting anyone's shift points or stretching out gears? I'm looking at getting a set in 265/75R16. It would be about a 18lb increase per tire for me

Thanks for your contributions to this post; 32 pages in and I think I'm convinced! LOL. Actually, I used the search function (it really does work) and came across this thread a couple days ago. I'm close to pulling the trigger, and since I do use my truck off road, I think I will live with the on road drawbacks of a heavier tire. The problem is with all the weight I currently have on my truck (sliders and skid plates) I'm barely above 16 around town as it is. Losing a couple MPG isn't the end of the world, but 14 is almost embarrassing! LOL.

Glad my attempts of helping others on here is working.

Yesterday on my commute I did a little experiment. I took my time and never once goosed it. I kept the tach at or under 2k the entire trip except for some of the longer hills out in the country. On the way in to work I added 2 mpgs and on the way home dropped a half. It didn't kill me like I thought it was going to.

So I started to do the math in my head and of course it hurt.

If I drive the way I want (insanely) and can achieve 16 - 16.5 or more mpgs on average, and drive like a person with sense (aka boring) then I add 1.5 to 2 mpgs.

It's a 18 gallon tank x 2 mpg = 36 extra mpgs......that's not even a trip to work for me. Works out to like 5 bucks at the current gas prices. Not worth the stress. I feel like a tiger in a zoo, all pent up!

On a yearly basis though that adds up. it could close to like $440 a year.

Thankfully, my DD is a hybrid so I am doubling that savings. It's all about the big picture and our happiness. If you didn't have the right equipment then you would not be able to be happy doing what you like. Seems like a fair trade for the cost of gas.

I have several factors working against my MPG: My "commute" is only 8 miles and there are at least a dozen traffic lights in that span! And the several hundred pounds of skid plates and sliders on my truck. And the manual transmission. But I mostly blame the commute. My trip mileage is usually 18 when I can catch the lights and there's less traffic. I was reading a different forum and read that one guy lost 4 MPG just going from 265/70 to 265/75 at about 13 pounds per tire heavier. The last thing I need is to clock in at 11 or 12 MPG! LOL, but your math helps, what's $5-$7 extra dollars for peace of mind? I'm always sweating it when I go off road with these silly Goodyears!
