Drove ~250 miles on the highway last night on the new tires. Very pleased with how they felt compared to the KO2s they replaced. Extremely smooth up to ~80 mph and, for the most part, very quiet. I did notice they were making a whistling type noise on some pavement surfaces but it wasn’t a consistent noise. I also drove on some pretty crappy roads in northern Ohio and into Michigan. But either way, the annoying shake/vibration I’d been dealing with from the KO2s at highway speeds is all but gone. I mean, it still rides like a lifted truck and some roads are worse than others, but overall I’m very happy having made the switch.

I also noticed the Ridge Grapplers seem to have eliminated a slight shudder I was feeling from the rear of the truck at takeoff as well. I have a custom one piece rear driveshaft (did that when my CB failed and to finally eliminate driveshaft vibes from my lift) but I’d been feeling a slight shudder on the KO2s. I don’t feel that at all anymore and on backroads and at lower speeds, these tires are way more comfortable to drive on.

These seem like great “aggressive” tires that perform like some all-season tires for pavement, excited to check these out. Cross shopping these and the Falkens. Doesn’t seem like anyone has posted or are running them in the 265/70/r17 SL?? The Nitto page weight on these differ greatly with the same tire weight spec on DiscountTire webpage...if the SL really weights 54 lbs I think I’ll have to pass .

Nitto lists the 285/70/17 SL tires I just installed at 49 pounds each. Seems odd that the 265/70/17 SL tires would weigh more than those...

Yes, well...the Nitto page lists the SL around 43...but @Discount Tire has the weight of the SL at 54...unless I’m missing something??

Discount Tire must be wrong. The SL 285/70/17 weighs 49 lbs. No way the 265 SL would weigh 54 lbs.

If you air your tires down a lot then by all means go to the narrow wheel . Wide wheels tend to not hold the tire down at low air pressure. On 33 A/T x 15 tires. I would run 8 inch and aired them down to 10 lbs in the sand and never had one come off. With 10 inch rims and 12.50 x 15 A/T B load they would come off the rear of a Dodge 4x4 i had .

No one has the SL 265/70/r17 Grapplers? Or pics? I’m really leaning towards these but haven’t seen a review or post about this size/load anywhere on the internet. Ok then... :tumbleweed:

I don’t see how they’d be that much different than the SL 285/70/17 size that several people, myself included, have purchased.

They’re at least going to look the same, just an inch or so smaller in diameter. And based on the first 350 miles or so driving on mine, I’m very pleased with them. Especially compared to the two different sets of C rated KO2s I had before. I’m taking a 1000+ mile road trip this weekend for the holiday and am looking forward to the smooth, quieter ride on the highway.

Awesome to hear . I’ve read nothin but good reviews from everyone on here about them...lots of good info about these in other sizes, was just curious to see if the compounds wore differently it being an SL load like the Falken Wildpeaks in different loads. Enjoy your trip!

I just got the Nitto Ridge Grapplers and Fuel wheels installed yesterday and so far i really like them. Quite and good straight line driving no thumping at 70 mph. Love the looks of them also. Now i well sell the stock ones as soon as i get fifty posts. A1359DA2-B64F-4257-8D74-694CB7BCAC22.jpg

They are stock size 265-65-17. Going to level the front 1.5 inches. The fuel wheel i picked is 8.5 x17m, most are 9 inch wide. These tires are 10.6 or thereabouts and i would have preferred 7.5 or 8.0 so i could air down to 15 lbs. they said 20 would be safe for sand. Running 35 cold load range C. They slip a little bit in the rain but Ive got a heavy foot lol. Theyre super quiet and smooth. Running practically 32's (31.62") with no lift and there is no rubbing. Soon as I have enough money, suspension kits going in! Cant wait to take these tires off road

mine were really quiet and smooth at first, 20,000 later crazy loud ..but still smooth, never had any balancing issues.. never a shimmy,, switching them out soon,, 1/2 tread left, but just too loud, with a slapping sound,, prolly would not buy them again,,

You probably should have cross rotated them. By doing that on most all terrains you can help prolong the life before the “slap” begins.

I cross the rears to the front and the fronts straight back every time.
