The cross rotation helps the AT tires wear more evenly. I don’t remember exactly what improper wear causes the noise but when the tires are kept on one side of the vehicle too long the tread will wear in a way that typically produces the dreaded “slap”. I learned this first hand on a set of KO2s. I ran them for about 40k miles only rotating back to front. When I took them off they had 8/32nds of tread (half tread left) and they were super noisy. Not really loud per say, but on the highway I definitely heard the slap. I’ve been cross rotating AT tires ever since and haven’t heard the noise return yet.

Yes, any irregularity in the alignment will help with doing what I posted. Of course just rotating every 5000 is the minimum especially with aggressive tread. My Nitto Trail Grapplers will be at about 90,000 to 100,000 miles when I replace them.

I've been running these for a few days now in stock size, not a fan of the hit to MPG, I knew moving to a more aggressive AT would do that but I went from 18-22 mpg to 15-18, PSI is at 36. Might go back to stock as these days I care more about MPG than looks.

Damn. I had the opposite effect. Granted I’m running a 3” lift and 285s but my MPGs actually increased from 14-15 to around 16-17 after switching from C load rated BFGs to these tires in standard load. I’ve been super pleased getting 300+ miles on a tank of gas again.

Right, makes no sense to me, as I ran these C rated 285s on my 19 Sport that was lifted and got 15-17 consistently, a stock truck on 265/70 SL rating should not be getting 15 mpg on these tires.

Best I ever pulled was when they were new was 22.2 with a full loaded bed of vacation gear. Best I've done commuting like I have sense is 18. I average 16 though.

265/70r17. 84 lbs per corner at 37 psi.

Is that wheel and tire or just the tire?

I’m on stock TRD Sport wheels. Might pull the trigger on some SCS F5s on Black Friday or after tax return time. Those should weigh less than my factory wheels and might help the gas mileage a bit. My last tank came in at 17.5 mpg and I’d love to see a full highway tank hit 18+ mpg again... the highest I’ve ever seen with my truck was 21 driving I75 north to Michigan (completely flat) one summer on stock tires and no lift.

Anybody have any updates on their SL Ridge Grapplers? How is the ride quality, comfort. mpg, wear, etc?

Can’t comment much on wear as I’ve only put about 3000 miles on my 285/70/17 SL Ridge Grapplers so far, but compared to two different sets of C rated KO2s (265/70/17 and 285/70/17), the SL Ridge Grapplers ride much smoother on the highway. The truck doesn’t seem to vibrate nearly as much as it did on the KO2s, the ride is almost dead silent (outside of wind noise) and as I mentioned in one of my other replies, I’ve seen a noticeable increase in MPGs.

On the same size KO2s, I was averaging around 15-16 MPGs and the last several tanks on the Ridge Grapplers have all been 17+ with some pushing 18. I’ve also noticed, in the few times it’s rained since I’ve had them on, that the wet traction on the Ridge Grapplers is much better than the KO2s. I don’t have a ton of miles on wet roads yet but I haven’t had to kick the truck into 4WD just to go around turns like I did on the KO2s, so I call that a win.

Can anyone confirm the weight on a 265/75R16 116T? 49 lbs seems high.

Anyone have any reviews on wear of these above 60k miles? Skimming through I see some low miles and wondering how they are when they get up there a little.

I have 80k+ on my duratracs and honestly they can prob go another 6-10k

trying to determine if I should try something new or stick with a tire that has been insanely reliable and the longevity has blown me away.

How you guys liking the 295/75/16? I’m gonna be off-road a lot. Have 265/75/16 Wrangler MTR’s now and love them. With my TC +2 LT I wanted a slightly narrower tire. Thought the Grapplers might be a safe compromise. Not a daily driver btw. Just a weekend off-road machine. I’ll be driving up mountain passes and onto rough roads and washouts from there.

    Hello TW friends,

Very first post...although I've been following a number of threads for the past 2 years ever since I bought my MGM 2018 ACLB. I'm fairly decided on these tires in a 265/75/16r upgrading from stock tires (although still trying to figure out whether I should get C or E rating). Total newb question: is it necessary to switch out the spare to match the other 4 tires? Does everybody buy 5 tires, or what is the common practice? and if so, does it fit under truck?

Plan on adding Bilstein 6112 and 5160s also in the very near future.

I'll be using mostly as daily driver, but we get a lot of snow in the winter and hoping these handle it with ease, as well as plenty of fireroads in the summertime for camping.

Well finally replaced the r/g's with a milder dunlop and am way happier driving on the road. Almost 3 mpg better on the highway. So much quieter.
My hearing has been going slowly for a few years and after a bad day with the freedom dispensers I finally had to get hearing aids. ( wholly crap $2500 even with a discount thru my work!)Those tires were just so loud in the frequency band I was still able to hear decent in. With the new tires I can actually ride w windows down again.
Sucks cuz that was money that could have gone to something really important like upgrades to my truck ( haha)!
