Okay well my N00b questions are about to an end, but i have one last question.

Are the trail grapplers loud on the road? I don't expect them to be quiet, but as long as it's not annoyingly loud and i have to scream to my passenger then i'm good. Read a lot of reviews but want to hear some form tacoma guys.

Found an excellent deal for (4) 18" XD monsters and (4) 285/65-18 Nitto trail grapplers tires for $1700 shipped.

They are some awesome tires! I've had a set of 295's on my truck for about 8 months now. They are pretty quiet for how big the tread is.

    Be sure to post pics..

lol i went with these tires because of your truck and i have to say so far i really like them. for a true m/t they are pretty quiet on the street and seem to do excellent in the wet. i'm concerned about the snow this winter however.

last year i was running duratracs and i'm concerned that the tg won't be able to keep up it's other wise excellent demeanor in the snow and slush. i like to make fresh tracks through deep ass snow for some reason thats when i go off roading lol all the dirt is covered with snow :)

I put on 285, and I had to do a lot of trimming up front and still need to do the cab mount chop

Well last year I had a set of 285/70R18's on my truck and they are awesome. I drove in the snow with no problem. I actually sold them to a buddy of mine who put them on his 2010 F150 when I got my new Trail Grapplers (35x12.5x18's). The tires I sold had 15k on them and still looked new. I have about 12k on these and they look good.
