I didn't read the article yet, but as far as I am concerned, you really had to piss off a bear to make it come after you. NJ has a shit load of wild life and if people can't handle that, then move to an apartment on an upper floor in the city, bears have not figured out elevator technology.

BTW just saw this in my backyard yesterday. So what did I do...I didn't F**k with it, and look at that, I'm alive.

Same here... Bad tune and it rusted away in a couple months. Ended up just getting a 108" stainless whip and bending it down when I didn't want it poking up.

Similar to this, but the eye in my bedrack holds it not some goofy strap up front.

Does anyone in here want their programmable TPMS sensors cloned? None of the shops I approached had the equipment to clone sensors, so I might go buy the cloning tool to have my OEM sensors cloned to run winter wheels. PM me if you are interested in getting yours cloned too.

I am glad they haven't figured out elevator technology. I don't need any competition. :D

Thanks. I will see how I make out. In looking at it, the antenna only goes about 6" higher than my cap. If it's that close in height to a parking garage, I really shouldn't be in the garage to begin with.lol

    Rausch this weekend...

    :bananadance::burnrubber:

Seems we will have a relatively small turn out compared to last trip but I hopefully should have some DB's to drink with around the fire.

my roommate bought a junk yard truck yesterday. $500 for a 1996 ford f150 regular cab long bed body has rusted fenders but everything else is in good shape, we washed and waxed it and it looks great.

the bad: it felt like the parking brake was always applied and it pulled to the right, and i could hear grinding from the right front. so we took off the wheel and tire and the hub was hot as balls. tried turning the hub and the caliper was clamped down hard and frozen up. so we pried the old caliper off, spent $30 at pep boys for a new caliper and pads, started installing the new one and wondered why we couldn't get the lower bolt in (it was missing from the old caliper). turns out the old bolt broke off in the piece that the bolt threads into. so now we start trying to drill out the old bolt. broke a few drill bits and had almost no noticeable affect on the bolt. so I went to my dad's house, he's a mac tools distributor. I got a few different types of extractor sets, some left hand drill bits, and a $400 set of drill bits that I used for my shackle flip and they ate through the rivets like butter. start drilling out the bolt with the new tools and keep breaking bits, having slightly more affect on the shape of the bolt though. as of midnight last night we have a very tiny hole all the way through the bolt but its not centered.. in all the effort trying to make a hole, the drill bits walked and ended up on the edge of the bolt. So now I want to get the rotor off so we can try drilling from the other side (the easier side to drill from, once the rotor comes off) I have no clue how the rotor/hub are supposed to come off. Ill do some research but its so old and rusty I would prefer to not fuck with it. This bolt is just fucking ridiculous... I can't believe how hard it is to remove. Its actually damaging the extractors and they aren't even spinning it at all. I wonder if the massive amount of heat created by the siezed caliper could've in a way "heat treated" the bolt to make it harder, or if it is possibly rusted/heat welded in place now and thats why we're having such a hard time removing it.

we did spray it with pb blaster multiple times. I'm wondering about trying the atf/acetone mix but we don't have either on hand so I'd prefer to no have to try that.

    what a PITFA!!!

yea you need to go higher.

    so do I... 102" whip...FTW!!!

Not MIA. Was camping with him this past weekend :spy:

LMAO... besides the rusty bolt, Fords are 100X easier to work on IMHO. Calipers remove exactly like a Tacoma on my Ford. Just remove 2 bolts and the brake line and it's loose.

I swapped the wheel bearings (unit bearings on a Ford) in something like 30min per side and they cost $95 (including ABS wires).

does that set up have a bake pad holder (caliper bolts to it-it bolts to spindle) or does caliper bolt directly to spindle?

It's kinda weird.. Part of the spindle has 2 spots that the clips attach to which holds the pads in place, then you slip the caliper over the pads and bolt it in.

Once we figured that out it's pretty easy. Except for the broken bolt. Do you have any tips for removing it? I'm worried that since were not drilling in the exact center the treads are going to end up being destroyed. Then having to tap it I'm worried the hole will be too big for the bolt, and obviously the bolt has to be a specific size to fit through the caliper so we can't just get a bigger bolt.

    Same brakes as mine.

Ford parts are cheap... I just looked online and fleabay has them for less than $100 for 96' 4x4 F-150. Probably find them cheaper with some searching of Ford Forums.

Josh, to get the rotor off fords like that you gotta take the hub off the remove the nut, lock ring and the bearing preload nut off then the whole hub comes off and the rotor is attached to the hub with the lug studs. You gotta pound them out ad get new ones to out it back together. And to get the broken bolt out requires lots and lots of heat and pb blaster. I've been down that road twice. Besides the tacoma my other hobby is old fords so feel free to pm me with questions.
