It was originally an all girls school.

And Lakewood was super rich and fancy back in the day. Celebrities used to vacation there. Ocean county park was a private residence. I forget who it belonged to though.

Sadly that's how a lot of shit areas start out as. Trenton was the same way, it's a shame driving through and seeing remnants of what were gorgeous homes turned into multi family units.

 

Anybody can recommend a legit off road shop to install a suspension lift kit in NJ?

I know a good shop that did mine its in south jersey in Lumberton mt holly area called camper bobs but that might be to far for you

 

That's ok I dont mind the drive, especially if its a recommended shop. What kind of lift did you install?

 

it wasn't any thing fancy just a frame lift 3" but every one I talked to about getting my lift done was trying to sell me top of the line and most expensive I went to these guys and sat and talked with them about what I wanted and sold me this best bang for the buck it was been 3 years and no problems with the lift every one I asked told me to go there

 

Thanks for your input. I am thinking about few options myself but cannot justify anything outrageous as I will not be wheeling that much

 

it all depends on what you want but what camper bobs told me if your going for a small lift don't waste your money on a full suspension lift for any things 3"or under cause the price difference is huge I think my kit was $300 then plus install

 

That's probably the worst advice I ever heard. Most proper lifts are going to be about 2.5"-3" and will let a truck be much more capable offroad vs. a 6" drop bracket lift. I mean if you never want to wheel the truck and you just want to brodoze around the mall, then sure go for a spacer lift or 6" drop bracket but the truck will either ride like shit or have a ridiculously high COG.

Many of us can install a lift if you want, I know we all are limited by time and our own projects but we do have mod days occasionally. I don't have any personal experience with them but the 4x4 place in Lake Hopatcong is a reputable shop in north jersey. OK4WD is also another shop I would trust with my truck.

So what's everyone's recommendation for a small lift 2" or leveling kit as some call it? My main objective is to lift the truck a small bit and most important objective is to keep the ride stock characteristics

 

The problem with going with a spacer leveling kit is that it will make ride quality worse and cause your UCA and axles to bind at full droop.

Good link on risks of spacers: You are better off with an adjustable coilover but they are admittedly more expensive. But it will keep your ride quality close to stock on and off road.

 

Like 5100? Plus Eibach/OME springs?

 

Typically yes, I honestly don't know how many options their are for 2nd gen's I know more 1st gen stuff but 5100's are an inexpensive coilover and a good start especially if you don't plan on wheeling hard, only occasionally.
