I refuse to drive on the highway without it. Damn near wrecked Fred's FJ with his removed.

 

I almost forgot I had a real bad water pump leak too at 40k that was covered under warranty.

 

I would like to devise a disconnect tho...

 

I'm pretty sure that our long wheel bases and leaf spung rears keep it a lot more stiff than an FJ anyway, but I don't have any complaints with running without a sway bar.

 

There's got to be a way.

Yeah usually do. Insulation is the easy part, doing the gas lines would be a bit harder. I have a ton of pipe fitter friends I can probably borrow threaders from which will make it that much easier though. And honestly I'll probably only run it on the days I need to paint or its ridic cold out. I doubt I'll have a condensation issue though, ton of open air up there.

Ripped mine out and never looked back the moment I put new coil overs on. I do think if I had to make a super fast deer swerve it might be a tad sketch. But as far as daily driving goes it's not bad at all.

yea i was going to say running gas lines is easy. I ran everything from the meter into the house. I just measure what i need and go to home depot and buy what i need and have them cut and thread it. just use plenty of pipe dope and tighten it down real good.

 

You only have to disconnect one side to make it not function.

You want one you can disconnect from the cab?

 

I've ran a lot of gas lines. I still have my Trac Pipe cert fom way back when I work for a plumber. It's pretty easy just make sure you soap up your fitting when you are done to make sure there are no leaks.

 

Soap and water to check for leaks...the classic way not the "sniffer" I do the work before the meter and after, lmk if u need any tools mike

Even easier is to just use a map gas torch and go around the fittings, leaks become obvious pretty quick. My dad has a whole trailer with a threader and cuter on it for both 1/2 and 3/4" if anybody ever needs some black pipe ran

 

Hey I am in NJ and am thinking about getting a Tacoma. Anyone have a reputable dealer they like?

 

Just use a CO (Carbon Monoxide) detector with propane heaters, they are notorious for CO; don't want ya to take the permanent snooze.
