First time to Wharton park, planning on going next week sometime.

I did a search of the park but theres just the basics, could not find much about off roading or any tips of directions there.

Could any of you fellas give me some input on the park such as; where to enter the legal grounds of off roading, anything to be aware of, what not to do?

yeah, Iv owned my truck for 2 years and been lurking the site more than that but never had time till recently to actually do some modding and wheeling.

Rausch has a entrance fee which is fine but finding others to ride with seems difficult.

I would be more than interested to go to rausch next week sometime if anyone is up for an adventure!

Technically if you get "off" the marked "roads" it's illegal... so you won't find a lot of info pertaining to off-roading Wharton
If by "off road" you mean unpaved roads, well everything I've been to in Wharton has been unpaved...

 

Question for you gentlemen/women. I have a pretty generic bull bar that I want to install 2 off-road lights on. Any suggestions on models? Maybe any homies wanna have a wrench party to help me wire these bad boys lol

Are there any mounting tabs on that bull bar for lights?

 

I am partial to Hella 700 ff's converted to HID. Ridiculously bright lights and super long throw for $120 or so.

Yes I have 2 tabs ready for mounting. Just need to be led in the right direction.

 

Ok that makes it a lot easier than if there weren't any tabs.

The lights mike suggested are a good cheap option. I wouldn't get anything that's not hid or led. Halogen is basically useless now days.

Once you pick out some lights post them up and we'll give you some feedback on them. And when you get them one or more of us would probably be willing to show you how to install them.

 

Since everyone has a boner for LED's lately you can probably get red ring HID's pretty cheap. LED's really haven't been able to catch up to HID's yet when it comes to distance. And if they do they are ridiculously expensive.

Not trying to sway your build or mods for that matter, but truth be told offroad lighting doesn't get to be used barely ever unless you are some douche bag using it in the rain or something blinding everyone else. I can count on 1 hand how much I've used my offroad lighting compared to much much I used my skids or sliders.

 

I got $20 ebay led pods just to give me something to do to my truck lol but yea i rarely use them. I use them on the road when there is literally no one else on the road and turn em off when I see any other cars but as far as night wheeling, don't do much of it besides getting out of the trails when the sun starts going down
