Honestly with that attitude, don't expect a whole lot of people to show up to your wedding either. You'll learn it's not as black and white as you think.

Weddings are not cheep, the cost usually runs about $50.00 a person. Good edicit is to at least leave a gift to cover your meal.

$50? Just having mine makes me know it's way more than that haha I mean obviously it all depends on your venue but you'd be lucky to get less than $100 pp on a Saturday, $75 on a Friday, and $60-70 on a Sunday.

Yeah, that sounds about right. That's why I threw the about in there. I can't remember what my cost I think it was over $70 per person and that was 11 years ago.:anonymous:

Yeah it's not cheap these days. My wife does marketing for several NJ ballroom's too including the one we got married at so I have learned a lot about the costs through her before we even started planning ours.

Oh I knew it, same goes for the ring. I know it's way more than I want to spend on both, but I also knew how happy it would make my wife. She's not materialistic by any means but I also know how much she enjoys both of them so I'm happy with how it all went. Also Most of my family told me our wedding was one of the most fun one's they have ever been to so that always makes it worth it too. My wife and I could give two shits about the ceremony, our goal was to throw a huge party and let everyone have a blast.

All my handme down parts I got I paid for... Except for a CB antenna that I traded a beer for and the u bolt flip plates that Loco gave me... I also offered to oay Ant for my bed rack when he helped me... He declined and I ended uo buying pizzas for everyone... Plus a 30 I left at his place...

I don't plan on having a huge wedding. What the woman wants shell get ehoever that might be... But I already have funds to pay for anything... My grandparents have a lot they set aside for that... Plus the trust fund in 4 years.

This^ id rather take multiple vacations for the price of a wedding. And get married in an exotic place.

Nicole and I are responsible for 100% of the cost of our wedding. We haven't nailed down the menu yet but it starts at $60/plate/person and is customizable up to way beyond that. I'm expecting somewhere around $80 a person plus alcohol. I'm spending $7400 just for the fucking house we're staying at with the bridal party. Then add in $4500 for the photographer, $3000 for the DJ, $500 for the Officiant, whatever for flowers, hair/make up, dress, suit, gift bags for the guests, and whatever else I'm missing...

You can see why people who aren't willing to cover atleast the cost of their plate are not well liked...

And FYI there are quite a few TW people that have attended/ will be attending each others weddings, so its your attitude keeping you uninvited, not the level of friendship.

Its also not just a matter of covering the cost of your plate, but also helping to financially give your friends/loved ones a good start in their new lives together.

I opened a 0% interest credit card to help book all the stuff. I was super surprised with the limit they gave me.. i BETTER pay it off within the 15 month deadline or I'm screwed lol.

Josh I understand all of that... And while I wouldn't want you to be financially burdened for you and Nicole to be married there isn't a law stating what I would have to give anyone at a wedding. Any amount that atleast covers the cost of the plate is pretty substantial. While yes there are traditions its just like a birthday party or the like... You ask for things and people get them... Or you just say we want x amount of money... I think its the same for a wedding... Yes youll get gifts... Im sure there are people you will invite to your wedding who will most likely give you nothing... I know my Aunt had a wedding and multiple guests gave nothing...

While I don't plan on getting married for a while I would invite a few people from here if the friendship was still there... I wouldn't expect anything from anyone I invited from here honestly. Id just expect you guys to get shitfaced and have a great fucking time.

There's nothing wrong with ribs and pulled pork.

IDK, never plan on getting married, but I've been to some weddings where the food was shit. Like, went to costco, poured the crap into a foil pan and steamed it til it was overcooked then put it above a sterno shit. To think they spent probably $40+ on the plate seems like an absolute waste of money.

Haha I am just fucking with you Tim. I've been to a couple backyard weddings which have been awesome but you can only get away with that if the girl hasn't dreamed of a fairy tale wedding since like forever.

This girl I used to work with was talking about how she was going to have two wedding dresses--one big one for the ceremony and a smaller less restrictive one for the reception.

    Good luck to that guy.
