Still in need of shop recommendations to weld the rock sliders on

Driveshaft shop near me says ~$250 for a stock retube. And about $400 for a thicker retube. I guess thats normal, but im going to shop around. @jowybyo

I hear you guys talking about third gen 4runners a lot so I'll ask the question before I get dirty with the work. I need. Rear 3rd member for my truck with 4.10's. I'd regear mine but want to have a spare and would like the conviniwnce of doing it without the truck going down. We have a third gen 4Runner at work with an axle tag that from my 1st gen Tacoma research (if they're the same) says it's got a 7.5" rear axle, but all the other research I've done contradicts that's and says 3rd gen 4wd 4runners came with 8" rears like 1st gen 4wd tacomas. Bottom line, can I run the third member out of this 3rd gen 4Runner in my 2nd gen taco? If nobody knows for sure, I'm probably going to pull it this weekend anyway. I just want to be sure I buy the right ARB air locker

 

What model do you have (Trd off road, Trd sport, sr5) Trd offroad has a 8" E locker diff that seems different then the rest and all other models have a 8.4" diff
(actually has a 8" ring gear but for whatever reason everyone calls it 8.4) that I believe is similar to the t100 thirds.

 

The 8.4 is the same in Non e locker taco and t100's, I know this because my gear install kit from Yukon has a label on it Saying it works for both. I've got a no elocker v6 4wd taco and the 4Runner I'm referencing is also non e locker v6 4wd. I'd have no doubt with the compatibility if the 4Runner was a 4th gen but it's a 3rd gen

 

My own comment above lead me back to ecgs to check 3rd member compatibility. V6 3rd gen 4runners appear to come with the 8" v6 non e locker rear, which is different from the 8" e locker rear and 8.4" (still 8" ring gear tho) non e locker taco rear

 

I am in need of suggestions for UCA's, based on your experience.

They are tried and true.

 

You might wanna look at the camburg balljoint UCA. Ive had them for a couple years without a single problem. The reason went with ball joint over the uniball is because of where i live. Near the water, and the winters the UCAs will see a lot of salt, and uniball will need more regular maintenance to keep it from squeaking

 

Little bit of washing and some erl and itll be good

 

Icon billet UCAs. Nuff said.
