been contemplating hitting my truck with the clay bar, compound some wax .. might just be a waste of time.

 

I just finished the clay bar last night, now I need to get some compound and wax. Only doing it because its been over a year since I waxed it and I'm going on the road trip to Moab.

 

Just wax it. I was going to do the same thing but it is such a waste of time.

 

Depends how bad the paint is. Clay bar makes a huge difference and makes it easier to wax. It is more work, but its worth it if you want it to look really good.

 

I clay bar mine at least once a year. Depends how much free time I get. Figure a day to clay bar and wax it

 

The clay bar works good to remove all the shit off the surface but it won't remove the scratches. The only way to get rid of all the light scratches is to use a light grit compound, a polish ( with a machine), then a wax. That takes a lot of time but will remove almost all light scratches that are picked up on the trail. Unless you run a finger nail over it catches you're screwed. But you're right a good clay bar and wax good to do from time to time.

 

Yea absolutely. The surface of my truck is so much smoother now. You could hear it when you rub your hand across it. Really looking forward to seeing how it looks after compound and wax. There are so many scratches

I usually do it every spring after the salt is gone, then compound if needed and wax. Like JLink said, big difference & actually looks nice again.

 

I have to get the buffer on the wife's truck. Her truck is black and she has taken through the car wash a couple times and it looks worse then it would if I ran it down a trail.The MGM doesn't look bad after just a coat of wax but over time the scratches start coming back. Kevin has the best color.

 

Yea black sand pearl is really bad with scratches lol
