I'm pretty busy. It will also probably take two days. if you want, we can meet and you can give me the legs, frame plates, and gussets so I can get those welded before we even start. I'll have to look into if there's anything different about positioning first gen sliders

No science to it. Ant and I just made sure the front of the slider was behind or in line with the body mount (so that when I tubbed for 35's the tire wouldn't hit the slider) and the rear kick out ends right at the wheel well. I also bent the pinch weld on the body up a bit so I could tuck the sliders as high as possible (last time I didn't and the sliders and body would rub).

    First time:

    258B12A6-242F-4AA6-BD1A-964C28F47831_0b9a16d9c4fa6fb01726932796fd2b6f18112ee4.jpg

    Second time:

You can see whre I bent the body over, angled towards the center more.

    3CEAD4CF-1293-4622-B95A-D3BD45106B73_8fc5bbc4e5cb5fb7a5b0e7ce22c69ff529c6c265.jpg

^^ shows why we started the slider where we did.

Otherwise if you dont plan on having a super flush slider mount or tubbing for 35's it matters a whole lot less lol. If you don't bend over the pinch weld on the body I recommend keeping the slider away an inch allowing for slight deflection/flex in the frame vs. body.

Thanks for the heads up bro.. nah tubbing is nowhere near for me. I'm sure I'll be happy with 33s for now.

Carpenter/builder. Spent 18 years as a stairbuilder then was forced to branch out when the economy tanked. Basically I can build a house by myself from the ground up. Since I have been in the trades for almost 30 years I have picked up many skills.

I ask because when I bought my place the guy I bought it from gave me tons of carpentry equipment and tools. I'm sure you have tons of carpentry equipment, but if you interested I can give them to you. Not looking to get anything out of it, just cleaning up my basement.

I'm going to take pics of some stuff and will send them your way

I got rid of a lot of stuff last year. I was thinking of building a small shed to store my motorcycle, but it never got done :(. Instead I'm focusing on buying a new house with everything I need, rather than tailoring this one. This house is rather small and has no driveway, but its the first house me and the wifie were able to afford.

Can you post a pic of the frame plates with legs welded on, I did mine offset to the bottom to have enough space between slider and body. I also positioned them like a diamond instead of square

Same concept, just different plates and legs than you would be working with.

Ok so you did the same, diamond orientation with the leg offset towards the bottom right?

I ordered those spring perches and shock mounts... So I'll get to work on the axle soon:goingcrazy: it'll be nice having some form of locker for those 45° washout crossings

If you can get my filter off by hand you've been single too long.

Always need a tool to remove, and it's still difficult. Printed on the filter - "tighten 3/4 turn after gasket makes contact", and I'm pretty careful to get it right. I agree it's too tight, but it's what Toyota calls for. I'm cutting back to 1/3 - 1/2 turn and if no leaks that my new spec.

Ended up in a 2017 TRD Sport for a loaner today. I don't see the appeal at all. I wouldn't trade up.
