Just to clarify, the bulk of his post was quoted from a prior message of mine, just without the quote feature used.

I get it. I had a second and now a third gen, I want a first gen. More simple, GREAT drivetrain, smaller, more capable, easier to mod, cheaper to find.

    Fair enough. Pretty simple reasoning.
Some of those buyback prices were astounding. I wonder how/why Toyota came to the prices they chose.

See this is where my ignorance comes in. I have been told by a few people now that 1st gens are more capable and such but the 2nd gens I see seem to perform just as well. I don't know where this 1st gen superiority is coming from.

He has more 1st gens than I've had total vehicles.

The older the easier. That goes for trucks, women, etc.

In regards to 1st gens being simpler because older, that is true. But they aren't so substantially older and simpler than 2nd gens. If I were to buy an older Toyota truck for sheer simplicity and intended offroad use, I would go with something with as solid axle.

This is true. Certainly not a benefit. Same for replacing that ADD actuator...

Ha! And a welder. Don't have to tub a 2nd Gen.

I agree though. Sawzalls generally make life easier.

I prefer the older Toyota's. I regret the day i sold my 85. Right now i have 6 4x4 yotas and the newest is my 2004 Tacoma. I'm just not a new truck kinda guy.

Well yes, one with a solid front axle is ideal but they haven't had those since the mid 80's. I've been looking for a first gen DCSB Prerunner. No need for 4wd because the build will get a twin stick crawl box and SAS. Pull the bed, tube the whole truck, chop the front fenders way open and then shove something stupid under it like 37's

That's why i bought these, locked & solid axles and they were cheap as you already know. I couldn't find another solid axle p/u or 4runner.
