The funny thing is I have a friend with a 2003 quad cab that is pretty clean except for the rear number wants to get rid of his 1st gen for a 2nd or 3rd. I keep talking him out of it.

 

Yes, 1.5x the "excellent" Kelly BB price. You don't turn down $11,970.00 for an 11 year old truck with 170K

I have a few floating around.

If I would ever build a dedicated "trail-rig" it would be a 1st gen. The 3.4 is a great motor and there is strong aftermarket support.

I really do love this. I've seen it a few times but it's the only example I've seen of someone making a DCLB out of a 1st gen.

That simple, eh? I still don't get why they bought back older ones and replaced frames on newer ones. Perhaps suspected cost of buying back the majority of older ones was less than a new frame.

Has anyone seen like a half inch wheel spacer for our trucks? Or are the only ones that go with our trucks an inch or bigger?

So true. So many times my truck could do things that the second gens would struggle with, especially in the pines and at rausch. Once the mods are all done though they become pretty comparable but for a much cheaper price haha.

If you go 1/2" I hope you will be running extended studs.

Give it a bit of thinking.... how would a .5" spacer have its own studs? Where would the stock studs go?
Spacers have studs when the spacers is big enough to hide the stock studs, so for a .5" spacer to hide the studs you would have to have studs that are > .5" or cut them
