I saw no mention of that in my brief research of the area today.
Most of the related articles besides the unfortunate death of that local man was around the contamination of the area by the Ford Assembly plant. That huge Sheraton is located on the former plant site.

Well, they're Nike missiles. Anti ICBM's surface to air. Still cool though, but they were all over the place back in the 50's.

 

Considering this is only 25 miles or so outside NYC I would not be surprised if the area was used for defensive purposes.

 

Also there were asbestos warnings on/near the radio/cell tower control buildings. This is indicative of old construction.
