Got the cap wired. Good to go. Should I bother painting my mobtown alum skids or just install as is?

I rounded off one of my bed rail screws. I've tried multiple taps, etc. No luck. Anyone have ideas? I can't use head because it'll melt my bed liner.

Not true. Any u joint needs to have some amount of angle. If not the joint will not rotate within the caps and will fail. Iirc should be at least a degree from straight when you have a double cardan.

The double Cardan will have a ton of angle but not where it hits the diff no?

Yes, the angularity is all in the double cardan. But where the shaft goes into the diff, there needs to be at least a degree or so difference for the u joint to survive.
I had about 3 degrees on the rear shaft on my CJ. Custom double cardan shaft. Way too much lift, way too short a driveshaft.

Thanks for the heads up. "That other place" gave me their quote today. Wow. Sorry you had that experience with them. Haven't heard great things so far about them. I am still waiting on 2 other shops quotes before I make any decisions. I get the feeling OK4WD does have a good idea about doing things the right way but I got the rest of their pricing today and it looks obscenely high.

Ghat14- does Total Performance do the whole deal? I.e. Would they do lockers and re-gears? You are the 2nd person who mentioned them to me today but hadn't heard of them previously. Thanks

This Is what I'm running with stock springs.

I do have a shackle lift though and in my opinion the angle looks a little high.

Wow. At that driveling angle I wonder why Toyota even bothered with a double cardan joint. Standard u joints could easily handle that with a shim under the leaves.
And to my eye looks like a few degrees difference between rear shaft and pinion angle. Which is why you have a happy driveshaft.

Yeah it's no where near as extreme as some sas front ends I've seen. But at the same time this setup puts my drive shaft as very little risk for driveshaft damage. And honestly I feel similar vibes at around 65 as well, but can't tell if it's old mounts or drive shaft or who knows what else. All I know is after a weekend at rausch it feels smooth as silk :p

Tires, cross winds, road surface, worn front end components, take your pick.

    Probably the 35s.... : rotfl:

True. I also wonder how much is too much wear on a CB. I do have a tiny bit of slop.
