@RelentlessFab just ordered the bumper reinforcement brace. Nice and easy check out process

 

Depending on the design, that will end up heavy as hell. Better to go lighter with more internal bracing.
Thin braces in the right spots will be much stronger than thick plate without braces

Any downsides to using shackles to gain lift?

 

Had longer shackles on my Xterra. That was a given on that truck.

 

Longer shackles are not really a good idea unless absolutely needed for the springs, I.e. a high arch spring that will be set up for a good amount of wheel travel. A shackle two inches longer than stock will only yield one inch of lift, but is more likely to fail because of increased stress on it due to the longer length.

Nope. Been busy. But now I am thinking that I should have made a set of long shackles and tested them the same way I ran the other tests.

 

I hear that. I am curious of the results so keep me in the loop

 

I certainly will. Guess I will make extended shackles and rerun the test again. After I post the results of the first test of course.

What is that?

 

It's like very fine hair like crystals growing out of the salt residue on my work truck. It only happens once in a while probably dependent on weather conditions, temp, etc. also pm coming your way
