Ive started the $5 challenge this year... I used to never carry cash on me... now I go no where without it... but basically every time you get a $5 bill back as change you can't spend it... ive currently saved up 385 since just before the new year

Did you have to find all the online prices to match it?

Thanks for the additional input guys. I went with the Plano Mil Spec 56" Double Field Locker.

    Reasons:
    1. 56" model overspans my OEM crossbars nicely. The 46" Tactical model barely spans the crossbars. and the price difference was only $18.
    2. No built in locks that might freeze up (per blackout14.) Uses padlock holes reinforced with stainless steel collars.
    3. Only 4 pull down wide latches all located in front, compared to the 6 latches on the All Weather model of the same 56" size. Those 2 extra latches are inconvenient for me because they are on either ends of the case. Which means that I have to climb on truck on one side to release or engage a latch, then go over to the other end and do the same (yes, I am short and can't simply reach to both ends :) ) Might seem picky, but I've noticed we tend to wanna hustle when we need recovery gear.
    4. Multi-use: Off trail, I could use the case to travel with my competition Walther KK Match and Anschutz Exemplar. My 30 year old Anschutz case is pretty beat up.

Why not just have a budget planned out and put money in the bank and not spend it on things right away?

I am 5'9 and still have to use the sliders to get to both. I am a bit more nimble in my feet than you are though

    enough to have fun
What i've been doing (newly minted adult here), is I pay all my bills (double payments as well) at once, put money away for groceries and fuel, and then have a pile of money for extra. This is on the first week of the month. I spend the rest of the month trying not to spend money as i'm paid monthly, and whatever is leftover goes into savings.

So far it has snowballed into a lot of savings and it's pretty motivating!

    I save alot.

But im also saving my play money lol... i put 10% into my tsp in the military... its like stocks but usually a low risk depending in what you do... i save 700 a month into a savings account and I have $600 in play money a month... the rest is bills Or it sits in my checking and I use it to chip away at the credit card. Im no rich guy but im pulling in 3800 a month. I spend and save wisely.... MOST of the time lol

    Or do what I do:
Have a CFO that makes the money, budgets the money, saves the money and gives you a weekly stipend. :ballchain:

    You sure about that? :boink:

I have a half marathon, two 100+ mile bike rides and a couple of triathlons scheduled this year.

You're welcome to join me on an easy triathlon: The West Point Tri in August.

I just have him all the part #'S and quantities. Then gave him the total from the online shopping cart. He said "hold on, let me see what I can do" and came back with a price.

@Nimble9 has you both beat. On a nimble scale of 1-10 he is clearly a 9...

Serious Side note. Lloyd I think it's awesome that you do all that:thumbsup:

Less serious but still semi serious side note. Hunter couldn't do it.

You have the edge because you're young. :)

I finished bottom 10 in all my races...

    ... But I always finished.

Except for the NYC marathon. Had to call it quits at mile 17 because my best friend and running/cycling/triathlon training partner's feet was bleeding and he was throwing up. The paramedics told us we need to stop and get him to the hospital. Fucker messed up my race that took me a whole year to qualify for.
