Why do you try to avoid it? Or are you avoiding the in laws? We do Lake George every year..I want to buy a house up there.

    Everything TW members recommend
    Too many in laws.
    Too strenuous.
    Too long of a drive.

Idk yet, I wanted the 1/2"plate to stick out far enough but that doesn't seem to be the case so for now the whole thing is the recovery point. I'll probably just sink some moor 1/2" in there when I do the hitch

Would anyone here be interested in a NJBS decal? If so, what would you want it to say? My wife is a graphic designer and we just bought one of those decal / vinyl machines. I was going to have her put something together. Or if not...that's fine too.

The factory tow hitch mounts are 1/8". They do have a curl to the edges, so are stronger than flat 1)8" stock. I am going with 1/4".

The factory bolts have about an extra 1/4" of thread past the nut that is welded to the frame. So 3/8" would be max to still have total thread engagement.

Does your bumper use the Bott nuts on the frame like the factory hitch does?

I used 1/4" for mine. As you know its sturdy enough for recovery:anonymous:
