Haha this is true. But that was when I first got it. I'm nowhere near as overlandish as Jay Chux and I'll admit it all day. But I haven't used it for anything cool enough to post pics of. Maybe tomorrow on the beach..

That set up calls for round-the-clock video recording. By all means I hope nothing happens.... But if it did why miss it. Lol

Does it have a 2ndary fail safe ?

Ya just gotta get out there! I'm not even about "check out my truck" while standing in a parking lot, I'm into pics, stories, or first hand seeing people use the truck..

If ya ran into me at the AOAA meet you might of noticed I'm actually not into talking about my truck in a presentation form or let alone being the center of attention. I enjoy similar builds as my own but mostly people who are passionate about getting out.

I don't consider myself an overlander, never did like categories or titles.. I'm not a skateboarder, I skate. I'm not a surfer, I surf. I'm not a fisherman, I fish. I'm not an overlander, I primitive camp. Its been a 4 year very presumptuous build to put my truck where it's at now. But I don't forget where I came from just getting out there..

Some of the best memories were before camp kitchens and RTTs

Taking another stab at replacing my hub and bearing assemblies tomorrow (bought a set from @nj636). Any tips for getting the hub dust caps off and keeping the axle from rotating when removing/replacing the axle nut? I tried the screwdriver and hammer method around the edges of the dust cap, but 45 minutes later no progress. :annoyed:

Put it in 4wd and only lift one side, or put a screw driver in the rotor so it hits the caliper, or put two lugs on and put a pry bar in so it hits the ground. For the dust cover sounds like you just Need to hit it harder

The sand is constantly changing, I cant say I ever run one specific psi. Colder months I've run 40psi on the beach right off the pavement with no problems. I've also driven on the beach in two wheel drive before.. I live 10 minutes from IBSP and air down in my driveway and drive to the beach for the day and return home aired down as well. This past May after not being on the beach for months I aired down to 30psi and headed to the beach, hit the dune entrance no problem but than stopped at my buddies truck as I was still in the sand tracks. At that time I was going forward bout ten yards than reversed back ten yards, than forward and than reverse. I was digging in but still crawling the whole time, couldn't get momentum enough to steer out of the track. I got out and aired to 20psi all around and parked no problem. For the rest of the summer I just ran 20psi. Im sure I can run 25psi or other numbers but just kept it at 20. I've never been to Brigantine Beach but the difference could also be the amount of traffic on the beach. IBSP gets some deep ruts now that everyone and their mother has a pass. In the last 15 years I've noticed a huge increase of vehicles driving on the beach here. But without a hassle 4Lo and 20psi will never get me stuck.

Thanks, I was thinking of 4WD, but wasn't sure if so much torque for that one nut was maybe no bueno for the diff. I guess I can try hitting the cap harder, but even a mini screw driver didn't want to squeeze in there. Already went to work with a dead blow hammer. Then again I suck at that mallet carnival game too, so might just be me.

Chiesel and hammer. You basics have to dent tha cap to get it off.
Axle nut put the tire back on put it back on the ground and break but loose. I assume you are not using air tools.

Makes sense to me. I hear Brigantine is ridiculous in the summer, so I didn't even go for like 3-4 months. But even in late winter / early spring there were some deep ruts. After Jose came by a few weeks ago though, the high surf smoothed everything out. I was thinking of getting LBI permits, but still gotta figure out where to go for like the 5 different municipalities.

Yea, no air tools, I know that'll mess it up. I was sitting here for a minute trying to figure out how the hell I'd put a socket to it if the tire's on, but forgot the center wheel cap pops out... it's been a long day. o_O

Yea I lived on LBI as well. Never got buggy passes there :anonymous:
Went a couple times down to Holgate and into the wildlife refuge but most stayed in Brant Beach area. Never really got messed with driving on the beach or dune paths..

Is there anything you don't do? Damn. I gotta get up to IBSP one day and check it out, but LBI's the closest so I'm trying to shoot for that. Brigantine's only another ~15 minutes, and got the permit as a gift, so nothing to complain about.
