Any negative effects when doing a shackle flip?

Thought I read something about springs not designed for it and handling on the road suffers.
Could have been fake news though.

    I would be running dakars.

Beats in the lead springs more but that’s about it. Way more positives than negatives with that mod IMO

DMZ. After doing the install I realized the bolt-on kits don't really make anything easier, possibly harder when considering you have to completely clear the rivets from the frame. Also, the frame is twisty, so my hangers needed to be plumbed out from the frame. The front ones needed to be rotated out at the bottom and the rear rotated out at the top. Probably the easiest part of the install was setting up and welding the hangers. All the cutting and grinding sucked and you have to do that anyway with the bolt on, not to mention setting pinion angle and welding the spring perches, shock tabs, etc.

Often times I find it easier to design and build my own shit. That way I know how everything is supposed to go together.

Like making a bookcase from scratch VS an IKEA kit. No need for instructions and better fit and finish. :)

Lots of sparks when modding suspension.
@mjp2 did all this long before any of us.
Maybe I can lure him to chime in... :D

Got the rear disc kit done last night. Had to break out the plasma to deal with a bolt not going in. Initial impression is favorable.

Yeah, that's awesome if you can do it. I'm glad I built my own bed cage, but I'm not skilled enough to engineer suspension, let alone have all the fab/machining/CAD equipment/experience to match guys like DMZ, DTF or any of these other guys. I'm in utter amazement of what Dirt Designs builds. R&D is a huge value too.

CAD is just a tool. I use cardboard. Suspension is like anything else. A bunch of parts make up a whole.
Like I tell people all the time. You know how I build a house? One piece at a time. Once broken down into its components, it is simple. But to the novice looking at the plans and a bare piece of ground, it can be daunting.

You heard correct. The soa is done.

What you may not have heard is that the rig is going to be up for sale once I button everything up. Just no time to use it.

Front wheel bearings, poly steering rack bushings, inner and outer tie rods, some wiring cleanup, and 500 miles of testing to confirm it's all good and I'll post a listing with a metric buttload of spare posts.

Now if I could just find the time to wrench...
