I was lucky we had more than two trucks with ton of recovery gear. We winched and used 6 straps. All my extra clothes and boots I keep for emergency were also soaked. The situauion could have gotten worse.

Ok so just curious. Why are you contemplating a shock relo and even kings when you say your not into serious wheeling and like exploring. Aren’t kings overkill to get you to secret fishing spots o_O

I’d save that shock money and get something useful like a fridge

Still odd that the boot tore like that and that the CV popped out to begin with. The circlip on the end of the CV axle should keep it from popping out.

yea thats what I was thinking too, I have no clue, maybe it wasn't seated correctly to begin with :notsure: but I put this thing in months ago. How'd you do the boot slide? Ive got one of the boots off the old axle, did you put something behind the boot to keep it from sliding back down? I know some people say they get away with just pulling it forward and putting silicone in there and tightening.

Was a wild one for sure Q. Im just glad she starts up. That Nerkel helped you out big time with that one. Ill head down to ants probably tomorrow to help him put it back together and start draining fluids.

I contemplated putting on my wetsuit and goinf in the water.

the irony of getting towed by a company called "Undertoe" after being stuck in the water flooded out... :anonymous: :crapstorm:

glad this ended safely, water and low temps could have resulted in a much grimmer outcome.

If cv was pulled recently the circlip could have come off without @Lux knowing. It would steal seat in the diff but I’d imagine it’d go in way to easy. Just a theory if he messed with that axle recently :notsure:

I use this method (the one using the old cut boot end):
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/boot-slide-mod-no-more-blowing-cv-boots.146070/

But I also put a little RTV where the boot end clamps to the shaft as well.

Here is one of mine I've done:

I've got the BAMF and King set up.

We can put your new springs on at the same time, since we have to take the u-bolts off anyway to get in there with a grinder.

Cool. Get the welded kit, or plan for another 2 hours of putting it together.

12 is about the most we're going to get out of a stock geometry spring pack anyway.

What bump stop do you have?
