@HolyHandGrenade i think I saw it in your trailer build, what corner (90°) vise do you have?

 

They don’t have a brand name on them. Got them in the clearance bin at Tractor supply.

 

Stronghand Tools has some really nice Fab gear. I usually use my magnetic stuff, but I need to get clamps for aluminum.

 

Funny you mention Stronghand.. watched a video today of a guy discussing and attempting to build a “flat” table held to standards of a professional table. He visited his buddies shop who happen to have a stronghand table. Checked it for perfect flatness, found imperfections but was close to good. First time I’ve heard of Stronghand.

By the way I’m ballin on a budget. Looking to get something that will help with material movement while welding.

 

That particular picture was in Overbrook (or west overbrook, unsure of What they call that section) Its like 62nd-ish and city line ave. Since I live in Germantown and work out of 69th St Terminal for septa, I take city line daily.

This is our day all day today, with new trees falling even today.

 

I have quite a few magnets. They are cheap and work well. The Mag Tab ones you can turn off to make positioning easier, but are more pricey.

That’s wild. I got cheap corner magnets. Looking for more of a clamp to hold while burning the bead so the material doesn’t twist. Tho maybe over thinking it. Should just focus on tacking everything before welding..

The magnets are strictly for positioning. Tacking will do more to hold then for welding. Also weld sequencing has a huge effect on warping/movement.

Not cheap, but well thought out and allow clamping everywhere. My DIY table makes we tack the clamps in place. But it works.

Yea I don’t expect much from the magnets but a steady extra hand. Looked up sequencing.. makes sense.

Not quite. It's such a shit show. So many trees and the higher ups don't know what to do/where to start. Been sitting since about 3 or so. Half my department (all the young guys) are chomping at the bit to get work done but we're not allowed to.

 

Not cheap is true, but guaranteed to be flat to .015" with their included rib supports is kinda cool. And drilling 100s and 100s of perfectly aligned holes cant be fun. (216 holes on their 2x3)

But yeah, not cheap lol
