While true, I would not want to drive home from UT/CO/NM in FWD.

What are you guys using for rear diff fluid? im having trouble shifting lately.
I used redline maybe about 2 yrs ago, which has worked fine. However, out of price range now.

By the way, if anybody is interested in 4 stmaxx size 285 75 16 let me know. Haven't posted them on Craigslist or the northeast thread yet. They literally have less than 8k on them. The truck has never been my daily until now. I had downsize the tire to the stock size.

Rear diff won't help shifting though. But before I did my gears I used Mobil1 75-90 synthetic in my t-case, front diff, trans and rear diff. Now that I got the gears I use the Mobil in the trans and t-case still and Lucas 85-140w in the diff's as per ECGS.

I'll give the Mobil 1 a shot. Hopefully it helps with the shifting.

okayz. @M192 can you tell me about your trip home from Tennessee? Was it just awkward and inconvenient or did you run into additional mechanical faliures from the added use on the transfer case and/or front end components?

Nope no mechanical problems that I know of. It was about a 12hr trip home. It was awkward and inconvenient for sure. Drove around for 3-4more days when I got home until I got it fixed. That was 2 years ago. I had about 180k on the truck. I have 207k now. It did take getting used to driving down the highway. It was a little squirrelly driving but doable

Okay cool. That’s what I was hoping you were going to say. I drove home from Rausch and for a few days in FWD after I rekt a rear driveshaft. It was odd feeling but I saw no reason why I wouldn’t be able to do it long distance if need be.
