Yeah, i got about half the miles out of my second rack I did the original, but the second one showed up with a bent tie rod. So I know it was crashed.

If you're going to re-build the front of the truck anyway that will make it suck alot less. Pull the front suspension off, including CV axles, and the bumper, and obviously any armor.

I can't replace the rack with the IFS skid in place? Shit, that's more work than I want to do.

The spool gun for that welder is a Prince XL. Pretty high price on it. You may want to look into retrofitting a Magnum 100 spool gun to it. The Magnum is about half the cost, but only holds 1# spools versus the 2# for the Prince.
Fwiw, my LWS doesn't even carry 2# spools...

It's worked well enough for a while now, tiny bit of leaking still, but i think it's just the old fluid

No, you need to get the rack bolts out, and that is almost certainly blocked by your skid.

Yeah, that would be about the same amount of work, and you'll be happier in the long term.

The scary part is that’s not far from fact. And if you went with a stock ish axle from a junkyard the cost is close too. Plus you’d never have to change the rack again

I dunno about cost, I think a SAS is probably a minimum of 5K.

When TW quotes a large number for cost or time , they are usually still below the actual cost, time, and pissed off wife.

Thats how mine started, P/s pump went, replaced, figured out the rack was the culprit and main reason the pump took a dump.

    :boink:thats how SAS ideas start.

No hate. I’ve just traveled enough that I can safely say jersey and beauty don’t belong in the same sentence. There are “nice” parts but nothing that fits the beauty catagory lol
