So after snapping the back half of both OME AALs in Uwharrie, and not yet being decided on my final ideas for the rear of the truck, I ended up buying four more AALs and cut them down to make the pack more progressive. The first one was cut to be in between the length of the original third and fourth leaves. The second one was cut to fit between fourth and fifth. And then I said screw it and cut the broken leaves and added it before the overload leaf. First test on road both with and without the Glamper has been good.
Unfortunately I think the leaves need to be retired soonish as two years of hard wheel and much articulation have taken their toll.
And while my as yet (and priprobably never will be) unpublished experiment comprising and stock shackle versus shackle flip proved no difference in spring rate betwixt the two, I do know that since the flip allows more negative arch therefore more suspension travel, I believe the shackle flip has helped shorten the life of the springs.

Damn good find! If I didn’t already have the same size mini ramp in my basement I’d jump on it.

Yea I’m about ready to swap from an ATO shackle flip kit to a BAMF hd shackle hanger kit. My allpro expos are about 6 years old and they are beyond shot. It’s tough figuring out what the best option is.
I really just want better load carrying capabilities, highway friendly for towing a trailer, and doesn’t break the bank.

Two years with the use I put them through I cannot really complain. For a budget spring I feel the Dakars did pretty well. Loved the ride. A set of Deavers would undoubtedly last longer while giving better ride quality.
I am still unsure whether I want to link the rear as leafs do a better job at handling varying loads than do single rate COs.

Got the Dakars in today, had a hard time getting the main bolt out, I cut the head, still wouldn't move so I think it was seized in the bushing, ended up cutting it on the inside of the hanger. The driver side shackle came off surprisingly easily but the passenger side I needed to use an air hammer to get out.

I put the main leaf and a 2" spacer to cycle the leaf pack, my numbers seem kinda weird so Im not sure if I did it right...
    hub to fender:
    tucked - 16"
    droop - 32"
    stock shock mount lengths:
    tucked - 15.75"
    droop - 23.25"
    planned relocate lengths:
    tucked - 18"
    droop - 24"
Seems strange to only have 6-7.5" of travel out of dakars

Overall looks good, the ride is ok, I don't see a massive difference but theres a difference. Gotta figure out what shocks I'm gonna go with next and plan the relocate out.
