its just random stuff, not even things that are necessarily bare metal, maybe my garage just isn't sealed up enough. I wanna insulate it before the winter too.

Go somewhere else. They damaged two sets of wheels on me. First on the taco, and I went and to talk to the manager and took him aside to tell him because I didn't want to make a big deal about it. Then, even though I had reservations (and yes, shame on me) Dave assured me they could do my Viper wheels and they damaged them too. Then the manager gave me the run around about repairing them. So much BS from him. We made agreements on repair then he would change his mind. Fuck him.

interesting to know for sure. I don't think that reflects the kind of guy David is but maybe the manager for sure. Ive only ever picked up tires from him. my buddy mounted them for me free no damage

I can't remember the name but theres some sort of drawer liner thats supposed to keep rust away and I've been considering those too. ty for the advice, didnt know rust could "spread" like that but I guess it makes sense if its all exposed to humidity

Do you have any bags/buckets of salt in the garage by any chance?

Dave is a nice guy, and yeah he hooked my up $$ when I did my wheel and tire swap, but what does that matter if the shitty techs damage your wheels? As I said, I went back on his assurence, and figured for sure he'd put the best guy on it (he was there when I brought the car in) and tell him "hey I know this guy, we damaged his last set of wheels and this is his 80k toy so it better be perfect" and they got fucked up anyways. And to add insult to injury the tech took a tip from me and said nothing. I found the damage later at home and should have looked it over better but trusted them.

that is honestly messed up. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with them. I dont recommend them often as I am way too far to even bother with a drive like that to use them.

Quick fabricating tip if you are interested.
When making multiple brackets, tack weld them together and drill them. That way the hole spacing is consistent.
In this case I drilled my pilot holes in the tube, then used a transfer punch to mark the other tube, and then the plates. And yes the plates are not exactly the same size, but for this application that was not critical, but the hole spacing was.

Garage doesn’t have to be sealed. It’s likely ambient humidity that’s causing that rust.

i moved most of my tools out of my shed because they rust a lot quicker than when in my garage.

A shed will retain more moisture than a garage. Since a garage gets opened more frequently than a shed, any moisture laden air gets circulated out. A shed is opened a lot less frequently, and the moisture is trapped.

This^^^. Even if tools are in the garage, there’s still a lot of humidity. Oil your tools.

And this ^^^ is why I keep any winter ice melting salt sealed in a plastic bucket.
