This. Don’t matter if it’s dirty or clean as a whistle.

Except the 'one way' part is that it's supposed to close when dunked in water, and otherwise stay open to let air in/out.

Which for short splashes or dips is fine, but a creek or lake crossing might be an issue.

It's also a problem for guys who tow boats and dunk the hot rear axle in a boat ramp for a while. The breather does it's job, but the gaskets fail.

You have to wait at least four months.

You want the 37’s too? When Jimmy goes to 44’s?

The Toyota 9.5 has the same length as the 8 and the flange is a direct fit as well. Just an option to think about.

    Thank you for the info.

I’m pretty set on the 9” at this point after speaking with Currie and ECGS today.

I didn’t know this, but apparently, the tooth design of the 9” is just stronger due to its shape. Also, the pinion is very well supported.

Since I’m breaking teeth off of the ring gear, it just seems like the logical choice.

I was going to order the Currie housing today, but ECGS says they can make me one that bolts in and accepts the wheel speed sensors as well. Waiting to see what they come up with.

That’s true but the 9” pinion hangs way the fuck down there in the dirt. The stronger design moves the pinion lower on the housing (hope you don’t have driveline angle problems cause the 9” def. won’t help). Plus everything 9” is $$$$. I vote Toyota 9.5” too but I might be slightly biased
