Once, a long time ago, there was a wise Zen master. People from far and near would seek his counsel and ask for his wisdom. Many would come and ask him to teach them, enlighten them in the way of Zen. He seldom turned any away.

One day an important man, a man used to command and obedience came to visit the master. “I have come today to ask you to teach me about Zen. Open my mind to enlightenment.” The tone of the important man’s voice was one used to getting his own way.

The Zen master smiled and said that they should discuss the matter over a cup of tea. When the tea was served the master poured his visitor a cup. He poured and he poured and the tea rose to the rim and began to spill over the table and finally onto the robes of the wealthy man. Finally the visitor shouted, “Enough. You are spilling the tea all over. Can’t you see the cup is full?”

The master stopped pouring and smiled at his guest. “You are like this tea cup, so full that nothing more can be added. Come back to me when the cup is empty. Come back to me with an empty mind.”

 

I don’t know much about philosophy.

Ahh, i see now. I missed something from a wise old man who knows about Zen.

I guess that wise old man doesn’t realize that every question that I ask in this forum, is seeking help, especially with an open mind.

Because every time I pose a question, it’s because I truly don’t have any experience or the knowledge in that particular topic. And I never hide that fact.

But when someone tells me I can’t “fucking” ask a question, then I have an issue. Because I thought this is a public forum, that is supposed to cultivate trading of ideas and knowledge.

And I'm pretty sure the wise old man’s visitor can’t be me, because:

1. I am not anywhere near being wealthy. Financially comfortable, yes. Frugal, yes. Wealthy? Nope.

2. I don’t even come close to being an “important man, used to obedience and command.” I will admit that I am a leader in my field, but expecting “obedience” and a “command”ing presence. Nope. Not my leadership style.

3. I do not own a robe.

4. I hate tea



I will say this however: I take issue with bullies. I despise bullies. And I do everything I can to protect my family and friends from bullies. I will not back down from bullies.

And remember, bullying can take many forms. A common form of bullying is physical in nature.

But the MOST common is verbal and/or written forms of bullying. This is what this thread sees many times.

Like I said, I will not back down from bullies. Never have. Never wil.

And this particular thread has plenty of them.

 

My 35s with rock rings were 108 lbs.

I haven’t weighed this one yet, but it has a second 3/16” ring and 32 bolts. Plus, the tires are bigger, obviously. I’d say they’re around 125-130lbs-ish. I’ll tag you when I weigh one.

 

Simple curiosity Tim. They look very beefy.

I’m wondering if you are weak link at this point in the drivetrain will be the front CV’s.

Which in reality is a good weak link as they are quick to replace on the trail if need be.

 

100% they are the weak link. I’m still considering running RCVs. According to Wyatt at RST, the clamshell is “surprisingly strong”.

The problem with the CVs being the weak point, is they’re a VERY weak point.

I don't think so either.

 

Depending on the situation, the diff tube on the OEM setup is actually the weak link. If tires are straight, the CVs are quite tough, when you start to goose it and bounce off shit with the tires turned, that's when the CV strength is exponentially decreased. A crawl box can help for the tire spin type shock loading, but it also increased the torque alot when you are in a bind. I may or may not have proved that one

Rear axle shafts also have shear points. Found that out the hard way.
