^^this explains some of the pro’s and cons. Major cons are most residential garages just don’t have the space there. And it’s also a bit more expensive apples to apples on a new install from scratch.

EDIT: the motor in that picture will probably be pretty quiet fwiw. It looks like it’s all contained in the unit instead of an exposed chain and gear reduction unit like commercial ones have which is where alot of the noise comes from.

Fixing all the shit around the house that I knew eventually had to be done. Fighting with massive back pain while doing it.

Wish I had time to do all the stuff that’s been piling up around the house. Can’t though because I’ve been at work everyday.

It’s amazing how different people take it differently. Both my wife and I are struggling with it. She’s struggling because she’s stuck at home (with the kids) and yearns for socialization. I’m struggling because I still have to work in the midst of what is going on.

She keeps bugging out about it. I keep telling her that’d I’d switch places in a heartbeat. She immediately says no. Lol!

Agree. It’s just like Sept 11th, or Sandy.. Something like this will always impact people differently as to we all have different lives. I feel fortunate to stay home with my family for the duration. There’s people on the front lines waking up to a totally different day than us. Those people will be forever impacted.

Funny as we have a similar situation here. She's a contractor for a school, so she's out of work and just starting to collect unemployment, but not getting what she was making. I'm semi-retired and doing security now so I'm "essential" lol. She's very nervous about this and want me to just abandon my job like there's lots of extra money here. I'd love to just walk away because it's become very clear to me my company (Securitas, fuck them) don't care about us, but while I have savings, I don't like walking away from a paycheck when I don't know what's coming.

I lost my job last tuesday. So no income makes it a wee bit tough right now.

Found out through a text message at 1130 at night. Couldn't even call me to tell me.

Looking at another house on Wednesday. It's been renovated, but has been sitting for almost a year. Hoping they just want to get rid of it by now lol

/\/\/\/\/\/\ This. I got the liftmaster 8500 for both big doors. they are super quiet, easy to install, and about the same price as an overhead chain driven one.

    https://www.liftmaster.com/8500-wall-mount-garage-door-openers/p/8500

Look at all that overhead space
