I hear you. I appreciate the information as well. I was wondering if arb ever remedied the issue,I feel like when something goes wrong with any item
It takes years to get rid of the reputation even if they fixed the issue. Guess I wouldn’t mind having OBA either. You may have swayed me with the 8.4/8 haven’t even considered that. Thanks josh!

TBH that's due to the previous owner not using it IMO. No use on these electric actuators make them freeze up. Though I think @Chux failed recently too.

    no problem.
The 8” rears had a reputation for grenading but I think that was isolated to the first few years.

Looks like you and Andrew are having a sweet trip. I’m jealous!

Like jlink mentioned the e-locker ones are prone to blowing up from hard wheeling, at least the early ones. The sport lsd is pretty good with a little help braking if you can find a low mileage one like less than 70k but they wear out around 80-100k and the clutch packs are expensive for what you get. In that range of prices you almost might as well try putting up with a lunchbox locker instead

My e-locker also froze once but it’s a easy albeit semi-expensive fix if it happens. I’m pretty sure it’s just 2 bolts that hold the actuator on and you just swap it for $350. @ToyRyd04 figured out a way to re-wire the Much cheaper land cruiser actuators to make work too.

The pic that @Chux posted a while back has been burned into my brain. Since I need to bring it in for a frame inspection I figures I'd take the sliders off to check. Wasnt bad at all..

Mine were bad mostly due to not just driving on the beach, living at the beach. I bought my truck living in Seaside Park. Then moved to Long Beach Island. After LBI I moved to Ortley Beach for two years till I bought my house in TR off Fischer Blvd. I was always on the beach in multiple towns throughout the year but living that close to the water not only does the air itself carry salty moisture but the entire time I have owned the truck I’ve dealt with flooding, heavy rains with high tides and you can kayak down the road. When the storm drains back up it’s all salt water... My wife’s old car never been on the beach but had the worst rust issues and sucked to work on. Did her brakes one time and the rotors disintegrated. Add in jersey over salting the winter roads and it’s just a ticking rusting time bomb over here.

Had a fun time in the Catskills yesterday with some Tacoma peeps. Rocks, rivers and bears oh my!
Sorry NJ but NY is my side piece. Or is it the other way around...

I didn't know NY had free legal trails to explore. Awesome shot of that bear.

The legality of certain trails are up for debate (or not so much)... that bear had two tags, not a good sign. Could be a problem bear or relocated, either way he was rooting around the remnants of a campsite on the other side of the river crossing, he gave us the stare down and sniff looking for food. Kind of sad, hate seeing animals like that habituated to humans for food. It won’t last long doing that.

I’m free - very likely in. Happy to make food and help get rid of ethanol so our trucks don’t have to drink it.
