have a friend at the DMV. Or register out of state, there are several states that don’t need a picture or anything.

the axle from southwest wheel that I ordered came with shitty trailer springs that were 24” eye to eye... @6 gearT444E do you remember? We reused the pack that was on the trailer already

Go outside and look at how small the leaf pack is on your little 12 foot trailer compared to the truck pack. The trailer pack is shorter and doesn’t have the same arch a truck pack does and won’t ride the same height as the truck

Call and talk to them. My trailer didn’t have a vin either. Fine the vin of the military trailers because theyre all the same vin and use that.

Yea I held up my new trailer leaf pack to my 6x10’ trailer pack.. they the same. But I’ve carried over a ton of bluestone and mulch a few months ago and the trailer barely sagged.. mostly the tires were woah’d out..

Im not following mostly cuz I think your trying to relate a military trailer to my custom frame trailer. There must be huge differences to say your trailer was 2” from the ground with 3500lb trailer leafs. Did you try to mount the new trailer leafs to the military leaf mount/shackle positions? Or did you (Ant) grind them off and weld on new mounts that came with the new leafs? Also confused with your build.. You got a military trailer, then ordered 3500lb axle and leafs, removed the military axle and leafs, installed new, then ditched the new leafs for the military leafs and kept the new axle? Do you know what the military trailer was originally rated for?

If anyone is interested there’s an M105 trailer for sale in South River on Craigslist. I have no need for it but I was cruising Craigslist and saw it

yes they were trailer springs for a utility trailer, not military use. I suspect the military leaves were higher in capacity, but the leaves that came with the axle were 1750 lb rated, I just looked them up. Do you have what the trailer original GAWR was?

He keep the original springs that came with the trailer, I remember because we did only weld a new spring perch on the new axle but did not mess with the leaf spring or shackle hangers on the trailer.

The leaf pack is 25.25" eye to eye, rated at 1750 lbs, made is Coronavirusville

And of course it won't ride the same height if the arch is different, but that has little to do with how much capacity the trailer can hold. I tried to avoid bringing math into the subject but it appears some people's thoughts are way off, the length of the spring is inversely proportional to the spring rate by a factor of the length cubed. This means that even though that "little leaf pack" on the trailer is physically shorter, if it is designed properly (number of leaves, material, width of leaves, thickness of leaves) it will handle the same amount of weight as a longer spring without bottoming out. If you figure that a Tacoma truck spring is roughly 55", and the trailer spring lengths are typically in the 25-28", there is a large design difference between them so you are comparing apples to oranges, and the idea that your longer spring will prevent the trailer from riding 2" off the ground when loaded to rated capacity is flawed.

im more so talking about your ride height vs the actual capacity. Glad Ant still had those leafs sitting in the shop. A trailer leaf is going to make it ride at the same height as your 10ft (sorry thought it was 12) instead of at the height of your truck which is definitely what youre going to want in the end or fender is going to be above the side of the trailer with a larger tire application.

bad picture but my trailer is at my dads yard or id get better pics but your tire is going to ride well above the deck and the fender probably over the sides. The sides on my trailer are a foot from deck to top of rail. For long trips and having the tent at a height it doesn’t become a head hazard i think you may want the trailer to be taller is all im getting at.

Another thing to consider is SUA vs. SOA, as that will add close to another 4” to the deck height unless you French the mounts into the frame.
