Looking to find a first gen 6’ bed relatively rust free somewhere in NJ or PA. Preferably gold. Mines now rusted through in the wheel well and has big dent from a hit and run. Anyone got any leads or does anyone have one?

nobody has rust free anything up here. Your best bet is to check down south and hope they can ship freight or maybe take a road trip and plan a weekend of it.

But......I just so happen to have a gold bed from a california truck. That I may be willing to sell if the price is right.

Jealous of that bed's condition. I'd like to get a fresh southern or cali one one day to start over with. Been patched too many times, and reconfigured too many times so I am left with lots of holes.

I feel ya. I bought a super rusty 02. Then found a pretty clean 04, then I found this one. Straight from cali. Zero rust. 2wd, but that is basically resolved already. Its worth just flying somewhere and driving back IMO. So much easier to work on w no rust.

Yeah that's the eventual plan, something from the south. My rust issues are contained to the tailgate, random bed areas, and the doors. I have rust free doors I plan on using eventually to replace the current doors, and the current doors will be turned into half doors. Tailgate and bed needs to be replaced and started fresh for sure. Frame's new as of 2016 and almost every bolt has been hit with anti seize besides maybe the cab mounts at this point. The fresh frame is the most important part for me really.

The frame looks good in both those pics. I have one that has way more rust on frame. Im constantly patching and fixing parts of it. Shock mounts breaking off. I took that frame down to metal 2 years ago in back and painted it. Did nothing. You have to use something like chassis saver. That stuff is serious.

Yeah ever since I got the new frame I fluid film it every year and I don't take it on the road when there is salt down unless it's to go snowboarding or wheeling. Been working pretty well to keep it mint.
