I have sadly gotten it a few times, but luckily it has never been a fix-it-ticket….. as far as security goes…I dont know what he means either

nope, you can get pulled over for anything that would make you fail inspection, safety violations, or even emissions… so the same way you can legally get pulled over for a broken head tail light, or broken exhaust….you can legally get pulled over for tints….

 

Just admit defeat. It's easier

 

So far so good with my tints on the truck and I have a camo tailgate...I use to get pulled over all the time in my toolbag blacked out Mazda though

 

If tint or too dark a tint is illegal in your state, you can get pulled over for it. Unless you're from out of state...

 

i have 20% tint on my windows, old 4runner had the same, all around on both. No issues to date

 

What about NJ state inspection? Are you guys able to pass w the 20% or other percentage tint?

 

When I say security, I mean just something to obscure the view for potential thieves looking into the cab to steal stereos or other stuff. I know it won't be bullet proof, but is better than nothing.

 

Gotcha! When I lived in jersey city... I got broken into for fucking loose change....

 

Tint is no longer an issue. Jersey only does emissions now no more safety inspections.

 

This. And even when they did a real "safety" inspection, I still passed. Though I've had friends who have had issues. Maybe I've just been lucky, though I doubt it. I drove like a teenage dick head until I was like 19 and I got a ton of tickets and pulled over all the time, but never had an issue with my tints. Now I'm a safe driver

 

I think my fronts are tinted to 35%
I just wanted them to match the factory tint on the rear windows.
They are pretty close

 

The shop that tinted mine measured my rear windows at 24%. I had my front tinted 27% to stay legal in CO while still matching the rear somewhat.

 

I have a 7 passenger XtraCab

 

I think I want mine done the same as the rear window as well. So is anyone 100% certain that I won't fail inspection at the state inspection station if I do the driver side and pass windows?

 

Worst case, go to a private inspection facility. I can't see them failing you for that when you're paying them.

 

Go w your windows open...now days they go inside to connect their computer to the obd2

previous truck passed nj state inspection in January; mud covered windshield, 5% tint all around, no front license plate.

in July my town had an unavoidable inspection sticker checkpoint. again drove right through with no front plate, tinted all the way around with a wave and a smile.

depends on your area; town/city/GSP/turnpike

it's a reason to get pulled over by a bored cop late at night
