What's wrong with that I do it almost everyday after my regular job milk don't just appear out of thin air hahaha

What's wrong with that. That is my regular job and we get applications everyday

Not trying the stir the pot but but that rubbed me the wrong way a little.

I've managed union guys for pretty much the past decade. I have laid off and hired plenty of people. I know all about unemployment, banking hours, and people taking advantage of the system.

Hunter is a 19yo healthy white rich kid who has barely paid into it and got fired 5 days ago. He already thinks he's to good to dig ditches but has no formal education or skills (perfect ditch digger material). He'd rather sit on his ass taking hand outs then do manual labor.

I also would not be posting about haveing the need to use it. I would be ashameded I had not set myself up with an emergency fund. Maybe its just a pride thing us older farts have, but I like being self sufficient. Even if I'm paying into it I still loath people who I consider abusers of it.

Did anyone say there was something wrong with it? I know I didn't. I offered my opinion on what "I" would do if "I" were in his situation thus pretty sure I wouldn't be apposed to it as a short term means of income.

Let me know how you feel about digging ditches in the winter when your 70 years old  Clearly you can't be content with digging ditches manually for the rest of your career? Maybe one day aspire to work heavy machinery and let your brains do the work instead of your body :notsure:

Personally I know my body won't hold up until age 70 so I use my brain to make my income. I realized this early on in my working career by observing the shape of the older guys I worked with when I was doing manual labor on night shift in a 130* warehouse fabricating glass wearing crazy PPE.

As do I but if you need it you need it. Obviously I have a 3 month emergency fund equal to my salary for three months now, and hope to have a 6 month emergency fund when the wedding is paid for. Why would I not use something I pay into every month? The government already takes a fuck ton of money from me, why not take some back? Nothing wrong with that IMO. Personally I feel unemployment is a good system for your average hardworking individual. Are there people that abuse it? Definitely. Can I live with out it? Obviously. But in the end I see it's purpose and see it do more good than harm to friends and family, as well as myself. Yes I and anyone I know who is honest feel bad when on unemployment. Not having a job sucks especially if you feel like you may have taken a wrong turn in your career or feel like your job got ripped out from under you for something that had nothing to do with you.

I feel programs like welfare and food stamps are the programs that are taken advantage of far more. You mentioned your family needing to be on one of those programs at one point in time. Every program has a purpose. Unfortunately there are a ton out there who abuse the programs regardless.

I agree with you. I've never used unemployment but I pay into it each year. If I was ever in a position to use it I absolutely would until I was able to find a new career.

    I concur.

Just not into rich kids trying to get on it when they barely put anything into it. At age 19 living at home with a parent who is a baller and gave you a new truck makes me sick. I'd feel like a total waste of humanity if I were in his shoes, but Ive never allowed myself to be in his shoes because my pride won't let me.

same here, it's something to use as a last ditch. As a 19 y/o college student I didn't have much of a nest egg but I made half decent money. I never had a car payment at that age but if it meant my transportation being repo'd I would take the unemployment. At 18 I was in between jobs & delivered parts for NAPA while submitting applications. I did that for about a month until I found a job.

I worked at a grocery store and delivered pizzas a few nights a week. Eventually I worked at a bike shop Inbetween shifts at the other jobs. Then I worked at eastern mountain sports and delivered pizzas a few nights a week
