i have the 5100s with ome 885x coils, I did not install the diff drop, there is no need plus then you wont be able to use ur factory skid plate. A lot of people said they needed to buy new UCAs...I however had no problem with aligning mine. The 5100s with ome coils gave me a 2.5''-2.75'' lift. I plan to add a 1/4'' spacer on top to get the full 3'', but I think I would need new UCAs after then.

Mine was good for about 5 years, but the ride had degraded since then, especially in the last year. It's mostly the shocks though.

Oddly enough most of the places I've seen car fires have been on the parkway. Here's one from a couple years ago:

    IMG_7014_c185e7607e79ce9741525d2409df728b7f0948f8.jpg
    IMG_7015_da1403a89e3d479179d4165ff690ee43e8b945e9.jpg

And I guess spacers won't be bad if the stock suspension isn't worn, I just know that they can prematurely wear out the spring and stiffen the ride a bit. I mean you are essntially pre-loading the spring right? And if you did a block in the rear vs an AAL it can wear out the leafs prematurely as well as give you axle wrap.

From his vehicle info, it say 2011 Tacoma so suspension is pretty new so I don't think he will have any problems

we've installed quite a few lifts for the cost of beer!
I doubt toytec was talking about a spacer lift though because they don't sell a spacer lift. I think they were referring to the shims they sell to correct the taco lean. driver's side has an extra shim to make it level with passenger side.

get this package- http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/3-lift-kit-with-Bilstein-5100-Height-Adj-Coilovers_p_364.html but don't use the diff drops. we just installed that on Chux's truck a couple months ago.

i don't think they're talking about spacer lifts

seen too many broken shocks from spacer lifts on here. rather spend a little more for more quality.

    diff drop is not needed.

"Machinist's Workshop" recently published information on various penetrating oils. The magazine reports they tested these products for "break out "torque" on rusted nuts and bolts. A subjective test was made of popular penetrating oils, with the unit of merit being the torque required to remove the nut from a "scientifically rusted" bolt. Average torque load to loosen nut:

No Oil used ........................516 foot pounds
    WD-40 ..................... ........238 foot pounds
    PB Blaster .........................214 foot pounds
    Liquid Wrench ......................127 foot pounds
    Kano Kroil .........................106 foot pounds
    ATF/Acetone mix...................... 53 foot pounds

The ATF/Acetone mix is a "home brew" mix of 50/50 automatic transmission fluid and acetone. Note this "home brew" released bolts better than anycommercial product in this one particular test.
Our local machinist group mixed up a batch, and we all now use it withequally good results. Note also that Liquid Wrench is almost as good asKroil for 20% of the price.ATF/Acetone mix is best, but you can also use ATF and lacquer thinner in a50/50 mix. ATF = Any type of Automatic Transmission Fluid.

This version of the story was in one of the Military Vehicle Club newsletters
