Afternoon - Looks like I'm gunna be in town 31Mar thru like 10Apr. Any thing good going on around then? I think I miss the wheeling trip...but life goes on...I'll catch one once I move.

 

Secret NJ camping/kayaking meet about 20 minutes outside AC April 3-6th.

Is this one of those trips where I show up w/ a kayak and no one else is there?

 

I may be a huge asshole online, but even I wouldn't do that.

Got some good old school members from PA, NY, and NJ meeting up on the night of the third. Kayaking will be set up depending on the weather. Ive got two spare yaks I can lend out, but last time I brought a extra for someone they never showed up so none of us could yak because I wasn't leaving a $800 yak on a unlocked rack at the drop off point.

 

I'll keep it in mind - I won't be able to overnight and I'm not sure what the schedule looks like yet. Some nights I gotta work, some days, but I'll be free quite a bit too....so once I know a little more - Maybe I can get out and paddle or chill for a day.

 

@X - what kind of kayaks do you have? I'm semi-in the market for one as a graduation present.

I have a Perception Sundance and a Perception Manatee along with a Wilderness I am keeping at my house for a friend who lives in Philly.

I would never pay almost 2k for a kayak. 2 of the 3 I have were bought used on Craigslist and the other I got from LL Bean 13 years ago. None were over $400.00 with paddles and vests.

 

Done. You can have the wilderness. A large guy will need the manatee for it's weight rating

 

Ya, I was gonna start looking on CL for something more reasonable. LL bean is awesome

Now's the time. Well..........Actually right before Christmas is great. People need cash and look over to see a kayak when it's 20* out so they say screw it and post them up. I low ball them and walla. Last 12' yak cost me $350 with paddle and vest and it's a perfect match to my other yak.

Those look nice. I'm thinking a 12-14' - I wants something that can move pretty quickly unlike all the crap i've rented

 

What kind of yak is the red and yellow on top. My next door neighbor has one by the fence that has been sitting there for a couple years, I might have to make him an offer.
