I found out recently I could jack fairly well off my rear but it is by no means stable lol

I say get it, you can jack the truck up without sliders if you have the right accessories but it would be at a tire

yeah you can get the wheel mate which is basically a webbing strap with hooks that goes in the wheel slots.

hi lift is good to have but not the best tool to have. especially if you don't have anywhere to lift from. Sliders are the only spot that is somewhat stable and even that is sketchy. if you lift from a bumper it has to be on really level ground or the truck will pendulum over.
a decent floor jack is usually better to have. and as far as using a hi lift as a come along... it will take for fucking ever and you need a variety of straps and chains and trees in the correct spots. usually you should know before you drive down something if you'll be able to get back up it, and do not depend on using a hi lift to get you back out.

all that being said... hi lift has saved my ass a few times, but now I've found other things to use that are better for specific situations.

Hi Lift was the first tool I bought for my truck and remains the most used 6 years later.

    Every truck should have one.

Regardless of how long it takes you to use it as a winch the alternate is what?

Do not buy the 48". It's to small for a truck. Get the 60".

If your handy it also has many other uses. Ive used it to move multiple sheds and raise a office in a flood prone area.

agreed, wish I had gone with the 60, especially since it's mounted on my roof and the jacking points on my front bumper are gonna be high

My 60" is technically 58" so that it could fit across my bed. It's all mounted up to the tool box, just gotta install my lock.

It definitely helped us when we were replacing my leaf pack last week. And now that I have sliders it would have definitely gotten me out of the jam I got myself in this past winter when I high centered the frame wheeling solo. I think I will definitely be able to wheel solo more now with it.

im never wheeling solo again... made that mistake once and had to get a tow truck to winch me out... same thing, high centered on rear diff in some rutted out mud on a hard part, tires were spinning in the greasy mud, dont think Hi lift would have helped me then lol. no where to even winch it to

Ive used mine when Ive been high centered by myself many times and not to winch. You lift the truck up, dig out the center, and put shit under the wheels. I have pictures showing my last incident Ill post if I have time. I was high centered so bad the dirt was above my sliders forcing me to climb out my window. I was out of that in less than a hour with only a shovel and hi lift.
