wharton isnt illegal from what ive read just now, and the illegal places you get tresspassing tickets.

how about that ranger station? thats pretty close to where we're going rite? everyone want to meet there? someone can find the address of it and we can setup a meeting time.

It would be nice to get out, but Sunday will be the dry day and I am busy with the family on that day. Enjoy your trip, the roads I mentioned are usually easily driven, but with the rain comes the possibility of puddle issues, but again the roads I suggest don't have bad puddle spots.
I just retired my 16 year old pines cruiser (Ranger) and have had my new taco for only 3 weeks, but already had it in the woods 2x. Most of the main roads do not require 4x4, but the side roads can have various problems that changes with the seasons (puddles in winter and sugarsand in summer)
You could also help the woods by taking a trash bag or two and picking up any bottles or cans you find. The pines seems to attract more and more of this stuff which really ruins the view.
    Enjoy:D

You may drive on most of the dirt roads in the pines legally, with the same rules that apply on road. There are private roads that would be trespassing, but most of these are either gated or clearly marked. In any case as long as you stay in the State Forest lands there is no problem. Just stay on the roads, driving slow to enjoy the ride and to be sure another vehicle, hiker, bicycle, motorcycle, horse, etc rounds the corner in front of you and is coming at you on a 15' wide road. The best way to deal with an approaching vehicle is to pull over at the first pull-over spot you can to allow the other vehicle to pass. This is the best/fastest way for both drivers. Obviously, do not get caught with alcohol. Rangers are not often seen, but they do patrol the roads daily.

looks like flying J off exit 1c on 295, commador bagel off 322, or atison recreation area off 206.

im about 20 min north of the flying j, i can meet you there too if its ok. ill just convoy with you guys till we get to our final destination. you think if we meet at the flying j at 9am, it will give us enough time to work our way over to atison and meet the final groupe by 10?

I don't see why not. I'm going to finalize some things on this and get a list of folks who are going and where they want to meet. I have to get the best directions to the place. I've never been there so its new to me. It can't be that hard to figure out i can read a map and gooole earth has some good sat views. Give me a few days and i will get the final details work out.
