    The ONLY reason to tape it is if it's not tempered. It will delay the large chunks from flying and cutting people badly. I would go around the perimeter taping the frame and glass 1/2 and 1/2 then do a grid like a checker board. IMO if I had annealed glass I would board it up. Takes much less time to screw on some boards then tape and wood is much better for vandals and safety.

    Tempered glass will be impossible to keep intact and doesn't cut badly anyway so no need.

    The time honored "X" with tape is useless IMO. The only time we do that is so no one walks into glass during construction.

    Kinda funny, they just had a guy on the today show showing how to "prepare" and said to do the X on the window. I agree, X is still gonna leave big chunks flying.

    that crap always cracks me up

    unless it's secured to the frame it's useless IMO. the films I linked above get sealed to the frame. if you do it right and seal it to the frame you could shoot a hole right through it with a gun and it would stay intact.

    my windows on the west side are some piss poor half rotted single pain glass type

    Comfy here at Joint Base MDL, briefing wing leadership. Hope my fellow coastal dwelling NJ Taco's are doing alright.
