Not sure how much longer I'm in NM for but hit me up when you get into town to see. Be glad to hit the trails with any of you guys. Just haven't been planning much, spur of the moment stuff. Kind of nice having the vehicle packed and ready to go for such things.

Went camping for a couple nights out in the Sawtooth’s. Tried to a route to the north end of the mountains but had to take a detour around because of some private roads. Next day went exploring and did about 80 miles of dirt through some BLM and FS roads & washes. Did a small recovery from the 2wd ranger digging himself in and along the way encountered a fence and some fallen pinions so that made things interesting. All and all a great trip I didn’t pack my camera so didn’t take many pictures.

Stopped for a beer break here. We were about 100 yards from a grated road out to the highway and right around the bend there were the fallen pinions. Figures right?

Not a great picture but got lucky enough to see a circular rainbow.

Also tarantula hawks EVERYWHERE I have never seen more in my life.

That might be in the area that is closed. The only way in is taking 376 off Fenton hill and driving down 376 through Cebolla canyon. 376 is closed from mile marker 6 down to 485.

I have never explored Lincoln National Forest so I headed south yesterday. I ended up doing 14 hours of driving, drove about 550 miles, of those 550 miles about 80 were dirt.

I hit the dirt first in Socorro before jumping back onto pavement to head towards Carrizozo.
    20200606_105545.jpg
From Carrizozo I went down by Ruidoso and checked out their old lookout tower that @STravis recommended I stop at.

Headed south to Cloudcroft and that little town had a lot of people in it. I quickly left town and surprisingly the forest roads weren't super busy.
Not wanting crowds or other people around I cruised forest roads till about 7pm.

Found where @TacoIII lives. And yes he decorates with bones.
    20200606_195224.jpg

Also had this little guy run right by my camp....20200607_171921.jpg

Overall the trip wasn't eventful other then a bolt vibrated out of my hood hinge and I think it is rattling in my fender now.

Anybody here got cabin fever? I found a road someone here might know about. Forest road 269 off the North end of 10 almost to highway 4. There is a turn off to FR136 through a canyon that would be a challenge for a stock vehicle, depends on the driver. My TRD with a mild lift had no problem.
Have to go on a weekend cause they are clearing the burned area during the week. Let me know if anyone is interested.
