@BigFishAllDay , calling me out. And I can actually answer the call because I've made sure to get out despite all the settling in.

Boreas Pass, 11k feet. Real simple, scenic drive. Was passing sedans...IMG_1213.jpg

What's left of the engineer shack for the train that used to run from Como to Breckenridge. Now can be reserved as a stopover for backcountry skiers.IMG_1215.jpg

    Heavy clouds but no rain:IMG_1222.jpg
Looking down on to the last bit of the trail, headed to Como (Colorado, not Perry):

    IMG_1224.jpg

In the meantime, working on becoming a full card-carrying member of the Colorado state residency:

    IMG_1237.jpg

Headed off to Rocky Mtn NP tomorrow if it isn't smoked out.

I took a back road home from work this morning. It took about 2.5 hours and it was the first time I have started and navigated a trail in the dark.
    IMG_20200827_065257_813.jpg
It was a fun drive and I want to do it again during the daytime.

Found what was left of an old homestead and a dugout.

I ended up on US 60 and headed home to get some rest before working tonight.

I definitely want to run this trail during the daytime, I'm sure I missed some awesome views.

Me and a buddy are in the planning phase of our trip out to Moab and Colorado at the end of this month. We are driving out from Florida and right now I'm trying to decide if I want to run I-40 from Texas in to Flagstaff (meeting a friend there) or come in from I-10 via El Paso if there is anything worth checking out on the way.

We are going to have a couple days of free time before getting to Flagstaff of which one will be spent in Sedona running Broken Arrow and Schnebly Hill.

Are there any trail systems that run from the Silver City, NM area up toward Show Low or Payson or does anyone have some recommendations for us?

If you go I10 through Texas Big Bend has lots of trails including black gap trail. Probably too far out of the way tho

Im researching it. Is that the continental divide trail that starts down near Separ and runs north through Silver City?

https://ridebdr.com/nmbdr/ That’s the link to the route he’s talking about. Depending on where you end up on your journey I think a part of section 3 will get you roughly where you want to be or you can keep on with a part of section 4 and get up to HWY60. The NMBDR is not difficult it’s really more scenic than anything.

Slowly turning this into CO adventures (and there isn't even a Tacoma in the shots). The latest, a trip out to the long abandoned Pennsylvania Mine
    IMG_1336.jpg

Then up and over Webster Pass (12,096 feet MSL). Pucker factor was high on the way down it. IMG_1351.jpg

Winter is visiting CO soon. Hope you New Mexicans are getting out and enjoying the longer season down there.

More of not-NM because I like to share. 001.jpg

Boreas Pass Rd is an easy drive, can be done in a sedan most times of the year. We headed pack to do some hiking to explore more of the surrounding area. That's the nameless peak we picked to go climb:002.jpg

From there, a panorama featuring Boreas mountain:003.jpg

Tailings from some long lost and forgotten mine:004.jpg

Entrance to some long lost and forgotten mine: (no idea how deep it is. Tossed a pebble and didn't hear it hit anything. Also didn't wake Cthulhu or other ancient evil.005.jpg

We topped out at 12,150 feet before running out of any sort of trail to use. There was another peak near enough to entertain climbing but with no clear semblance of a trail, we packed it in and headed back to the TH: (oh, and look!, 4 bars of LTE. More than at my house.)006.jpg

Panorama looking north up the pass towards Breckenridge:007.jpg

What I think is Mt. Silverheals peaking out:009.jpg

Hope you guys are getting out and enjoying the trails.

Yup in Taos this weekend and took the Enchanted Circle around Wheeler Peak. We stopped outside of Red River and drove up to Goose Lake. Nice drive and pretty lake but much too busy for my liking.
