21-22 would probably work for me, I'll be in Panama City for Spring Break the previous weekend. An overnight camping trip sounds awesome.

Yeah the 21-22nd works for me as well if we can make this work and not have too big of a group.

Seems to be enough interest so:

    Spring Thaw Run

    Where: Monticello Canyon

    When: Sat, Mar 21

Who (Copy and Paste + put your name in):

    1.
    2.
    3.
    4.
    5.
    6.

    Shotgun
    1.
    2.
    3.
    4.

(limited to 6 vehicles, let us know if interested in carrying passengers or riding along)

ABQers and Northern New Mexicans, meet at the Motel 6 parking lot (25 and Cesar Chavez) at 8am.

Southerners, meet up at exit 89 off I-25 around 10:30am?

I'll do my best to organize this but uncertain if I'll make it. If anyone else wants to carry the torch, grab this and use as you like.

Some info from the previous run:

    http://youtu.be/elQSaueuTqM

We will be making a pit stop in the town of Socorro about 75 miles south to top off any gas tanks and let the people that did not bring food and drinks to pick something up.

Then we will head out south on 25 to exit 89 (Rock Canyon Rd) about 60 miles. There is a perfect staging area there where people can drop tire psi for a more comfortable ride.

From there we will drive in a wash/maintained grated road until the town of Monticello. This area is mostly/all dry and takes us threw privet property where we will have to open range gates and close them behind us.

After we get threw the town of Monticello (no services) it starts to get beautiful and fun with over 50 water crossings. We will stop part way threw and eat lunch and stuff. (I would sugest to bring a lawn chair and water shoes/flip flops)

When we get to the end we have two choices, turn around and go back the way we came or take the 52 up to the 60 and end up back in Socorro where there is a couple places to stop for dinner and drinks.

I will probably have my Wife along, and maybe my kiddo. If we have a babysitter for the day, then I'll have room for at least one passenger.

I always meant to post and tell you that was a great write-up on your trip. Thanks for posting the pics.

Looks like it's you and me so far, Chris. As always, it's the 4Runners who are always ready to roll!!! ;)

Welcome to the forum/thread. Let's see some pics of your 4Runner.

West mesa, Durango, Jemez Springs, Montessa Park (taking a look at wheel travel) and my suspension when it was shiny and new. I have a bunch of go pro videos that I need to take the time to edit. If you work on Kirtland you may have seen me, I work on the West side. I was actually over at Chris's the other day - the guy with the 3rd gen 4runner who makes custom bumpers. I think some of you guys know him.

A few of us from down south will most likely will be going as well. We just need to iron out some details first.

Nice 5th gen! I've never seen it around, but I don't do much driving around town. And yeah, we all know Chris. He was able to get out on the last run with us... the pics are a page or two back in the thread.

    Get to ironing, buddy!

Well after much effort I won't be able to attend this one... I wish it was closer, I just can't get away the whole day. Very bummed.

Will be doing a smaller shake down run some time later this month though, some place near town. I have a 4 day overland trip in April and I have a lot of new stuff I need to bounce around a little bit haha.

Mini trip? haha. I would like to go to one of the local go to spots, at least for a few hours. Make sure my stuff is ready. Oh ya, I am sure you figured out by now, but I am not ready to tune that CB yet... back bumper is still off right now... Hoping to button up this pig on Sunday!

Myself and another rig will be making this into an overnight camping trip if anyone else wants to do the same. Havent nailed down the camp location but it'll happen. See everyone in a couple weeks!

Cedro Peak and Puerco are the local local ones. I'd have to research others. Maybe Glorieta Mesa.
