I went up to Placitas a couple of times last week. It was pretty fun. Especially the upper east end along the High Voltage loop. Lots of good climbs with rewarding descents. Thanks again for the advice!

    Howdy Borquenos!

This Saturday, 20 May, I'm organizing a TTE NM meetup to head out to Mt. Taylor (near Grants) for the day. If any of you all would like to join us, please let me know. We will rendezvous at the Cracker Barrel on I-40 and Coors at 0800, then head west to Grants.

Also, the following weekend we are slated to have a massive group meet for a trip up into Abiquiu. There will probably be close to 20-25 Tacos that weekend.

Also, if anyone is interested in our group and is on Facebook, just do a quick search for TTE NM and you will find us. Great group of folks, folks!

You'd be wrong. That is where my parents got married and not very far from where I live. Been meaning to head back in there for quite some time. It has probably been 25 years since I was in there and not since I could drive.

Going to be in New Mexico around June 26-28 ABQ -SF AREA looking for trails and scenery and places to camp single over night or two with the truck and RTT. Must be 2wd accessible. Can go as far west as grant area or north a bit above Jemez springs.

Then heading SW towards Roswell and back across TX. We are doing a combination of camping and motels.

Still researching but if anyone can point me to some threads or advice much appreciated.

I'm going camping with my fiancée and future in-laws this coming 4th of July weekend and we are looking at going to the Ruidoso area. Does anyone have any campsite suggestions there?

Bonito lake is nice. Tanbark canyon up past the lake is where I usually camp. It might be really packed though being a holiday weekend. If you are really wanting to get out of town and away from people, you should look in to going to the Capitan mountain range.

Took my truck out for it's first camping weekend to Cloudcroft. I loved having the truck bed and cargo rack available for all the shit I had to take for everyone while still leaving room in the cab for my dog. Definitely will be doing it again.

    Pit stop.

I'm heading to Bluff springs this weekend. Any other nice places to visit in the area? I'm more interested in scenics and wildlife. But I don't mind taking a moderately rough trail to get there. Have 4wd, lift kit and winch. Any suggestions appreciated.

Sunspot Highway to Forest road 223 about six miles in across from the blue house. Go all the way to the end down into the canyon.
Some side roads to explore also.

Be careful this time of year. this is near the end before you drop into the canyon.

That area is near a point where lightning strikes trees. This happened two weeks after I was camped in that very spot.
Never saw lightning completely destroy a tree like this.

Scattered thunderstorms forecasted. I don't think I'll camp there. Just take some pics and move on.

This is the exact spot I was at in my above post 4th of july weekend. It's just south of Bluff Springs.

Would I be able to do Goose lake trail with my 2017 stock TRD Sport? I am new to this whole truck/4x4 offroad thing. I don't yet have any recovery gear and want to have a little bit of fun without too much risk. Any advice would be great. I am planning on Taos, Santa Fe, Bisti Badlands and back.
