It blows me away how stupid some people can be with fires in the forest. Fecking idiots.

A few morons and the forest is closed for the rest of us. I got some limited fishing in this year in the Jemez.
I'm from Los Alamos and I am more sensitive to
idiots with fire. Including the Forest Service.

Very nice! I'll get back to you on your PM soon. Sorry about the delay, we've been staying busy.

I just saw that... and the San Juan NF in CO closes this week as well... that shuts down all the trails around Ouray until it re-opens.

The Carson is still letting people play. A friend of mine got married in RR this weekend, so we ran some trails up there.

My mistake, you are correct. I fact checked myself and sure enough, only a few of the trails up there are affected by the closure.

I found some good info here > https://soajeep.com/trail-maps-conditions/trail-conditions/

    Expected but still sad.

Do the foothills trails get closed along with the Cibola National Forest?

Albuquerque, NM, June 11, 2018 – Closure orders will be implemented on several districts of Cibola National Forest and National Grasslands due to the extreme fire danger. The closures will prohibit all recreational activities on the Mountainair, Sandia, and Mount Taylor Ranger Districts. Campgrounds, picnic areas, trails, trailheads, and National Forest System roads will be closed to the general public. The closure orders will remain in effect until the forest receives a significant amount of moisture and the fire danger level decreases substantially.

Some exceptions apply. In addition to government employees on official duty, firefighters and private property owners, the orders include additional exemptions for special use permit holders, contractors, Native American tribes and others whose activities do not raise the risk of wildfire. The closures are as follows:

    • Mountainair Ranger District – effective at 8:00 am on Friday, June 15; includes all portions of the district.

    • Sandia Ranger District – effective at 8:00 am on Friday, June 15; includes all portions of the district except Foothills Trail #365, the Sandia Peak Tram, and the Sandia Ranger District Administrative site which includes the Tijeras Pueblo, trail, programs and facilities.

    • Mount Taylor Ranger District - effective on Friday, June 22; includes all portions of the district.

I was noticing that as well. I was hoping to go ride Otero Canyon this weekend. It's been really nice lately a couple days after a rainfall. Much more packed down. I may have to settle for riding the foothills for a while since 365 will stay open. I guess that why they call it that...never closes.

I'm thinking about riding the foothills early tomorrow morning. I'm wondering how muddy the trails will be tomorrow....How's the rain falling in ABQ?

Rained steady for several hours this morning. Off and on now. A buddy and I might be out there tomorrow but I'm a bit leery for the same reason you mention. I know it all drains fairly fast and well but, with no sun, it isn't going to totally dry out.

Thanks. I’ll probably go this afternoon then to give it some time to dry up a bit.

Found some place to go for all you restless off roaders.
Forest road 114 off highway 518 North from 76.
Rough in a couple places but made it with my mostly stock TRD.20180618_150433.jpg
