These closures are no fun for responsible parties like ourselves, but unfortunately we are the minority. I would rather see the forests closed and green than open and burned.

I was in southern CO this weekend at our cabin and noticed a LOT of additional traffic in the area. I can only assume it is because NM and TX have nowhere else to go. The RV traffic was insane.

Fortunately, I know of places where nobody else goes...

That part is important too. We took some friends up with us in a stock 2G Tundra and their rig lost a tire and took a few hits on the nose.

Scott missed out on a possible recovery a few weeks back. I guess one of my co-workers likes to go exploring alone in his stock 5G T4R and got it stuck out somewhere east of Espanola. I'm not sure who he got out there to recover his vehicle but a rather sizable bill was due in cash. I didn't rub salt in the wound by offering up my free services after the fact.

Is Scott a big fan of recovery missions?

Man! Looking through pictures, I need to get out on the trail and get some sun on my shoulders.

Very nice, Stephen! I'm glad you got to explore some of that country, and happy belated birthday!

Is there two Antonito towns in Co? The one I know is on the plains.

Technically it's in Mogote, but that's such a small town antonito is the biggest point of reference. Those spots are about 30-40 minutes to the west. If you don't count the forest rds this is 15 minutes away from antonito.

If you make the right turns on that road you can get to the Ozier train stop.

Just rode the Foothills on my MTB. All the trails are open up to the wilderness boundary. At the wilderness boundary, all the gates are taped off. It was a good ride and happy that at least there is some riding available. Watching the fire reports, doesn't look good for Colorado either.

I came riding up in Salida this weekend. There were several internet outages due to a fire up near FairPlay (south of Breckinridge). Shits dry most everywhere.
