No 2012 TRD Off Road for NY state? WTF?

I went to my local dealer to inquire when they expect to receive the 2012 TRD Off Road on their lot. He checked his shipment information and told me that Toyota is not building any for NY or for that matter anywhere in the Northeast. He said that all have been allocated for the south?

I went on Toyota.com to the build your truck application and could not get a TRD off road option to appear for my locale. I typed in multiple zip codes across the NorthEast from NY to NH and got zippo.

I then on a lark typed in Charleston, SC zipcode and yup TRD Off Roads available.

What the heck is Toyota thinking. Have they not driven in Western NY or for that matter anywhere in the NorthEast in the winter?

Does anyone have any insight on this or been told the same crap?

I can and that is what I will probably do, but I just can't understand the logic of Toyota on this one. In 2011, my local Toyota sold more TRD Off Road editions than the TRD Sport edition by a large margin.

i think are dealer has one. idk. i saw one one day on the road.

edit: i bet they sold more Off roads because of the rear diff locker. i know what the snow storms can be like in WNY.

 

bought my '12 white double cad off road in DE I'm in NJ... dealer in DE wasn't getting them for another month, had to go to VA to find the one of 2 that were out there.

 

I just checked their online inventory and they had O TRD Off Road

 

My parents live in Charleston, SC and will probably fly down their to buy what I want and then drive it home.

 

It seems like Toyota builds them in huge batches for each region. Sport 4x4's are almost impossible to find in the West right now.

 

This is where I bought mine. I believe it is Middletown ,NY .

 

They have one at lia Toyota in Schenectady so that's bs

It's front and center in their showroom, just saw it last week when I was getting my fan replaced

I was looking at local dealers around me and the only 2012s I saw were TRD Sports or 5 luggers.

wow that's strange. i just checked the inventory of the dealer i bought mine from in syracuse - no 2012 OR's in inventory.

 

dealers here have tons of them..I went and looked at one the other night for Ghits and shiggles.

 

maybe he wanted you to buy something else off his lot. I bought mine in NEPA not too long ago and they had 2 at the time.
